The Official "I've been sent to Banadu" Thread
Been banned from matchmaking for modding, cheating, boosting, being a jerk? Post about it and how it was your little brother's fault here. Other threads about this subject can be locked and posters may end up as residents in the official Bungie.net version of Banadu.

[i]Recently, we’ve seen a moderate influx of things appearing in File Shares that don’t belong there. Some this is just tweaked content from Halo 3 that has been uploaded in sundry and illegal fashions. In fewer cases, there have been a relatively small number of incidents of folks uploading inappropriate non-game content to the File Share.
[b]Fair warning: Users who have modified content on their File Share - regardless of who created said content - will be subjected to the full power of the Banhammer’s thrust. This includes some never-before-unleashed technology that will effectively terminate your Halo multiplayer experience online in every imaginable facet.[/b] In fact, the ban is so thorough that simply calling it the Banhammer is a complete understatement. I just couldn’t come up with a more hyper-exaggerated term that had the same feel. Banplatform? Banpocalpyse? Banmageddnon? None of those did the trick.[/i]
Punishments are metered.
Justice is served.
Why so harsh? Because ultimately, the potential blowback for something like Fileshare is pretty grand. The Fileshare is not to enable players to put up whatever they want and think it's hilarious, regardless of how harmful or harmless [i]you[/i] think it is.

bungies just to trigger happy. do you remember the first modded map that almost everybody downloaded? well i took a pic of my character on it before any of the warnings, put it on my fileshare and my xbox got rrod. both the warnings came, and then my xbox finnaly came back and my fileshare is banned :/ then a guy sends me a modded screenshot that sends my xbox into rrod again. i keep checking xbox.com and im getting messages from that guy laughing at me for opening the screenshot and hes not banned atall. bungie is, byfar, the most trigger happy game makers EVER. its like a 6 year old with banning abilitys.

Same with me, I'm restricted from playing any user-created content. I'm not banned from Matchmaking, but for some reason I can't play any custom games. Is there a reason as to why this happened? EDIT: Correction, I can't play on any custom MAPS. I recently downloaded alot of MLG maps from fileshare... is that a bad thing? I'm stuck having to play on the default maps now, nothing custom. For those who have not read this weeks Weekly Update: Ultra Ban Last week, we mentioned some of the “Peace of Mind” changes that were coming to TU2, one of them being a new type of ban. The grin that crossed Shishka’s lips when the Database Wizards told him about the spell was almost Grinchian. This ban will completely eject you from Halo 3 online multiplayer. You’ll be able to play Campaign co-op, but you will not be able to take part in Matchmaking of any variety and you’ll be banned from playing custom games over Xbox Live. That means no more sitting in lobbies chalk full of jerks recounting about how sweet it was when you boosted your way to 50 or how hilarious your Overkill was when you lagged out those “newbs” in Team Slayer. For special folks – not the kind of special that your Mammy always said you were, the kind of “why did you lick that steel pole it’s Winter” special – we’ll be retroactively applying this ban to their accounts. You see, dear reader, whenever the Banhammer strikes, records are kept and those records are sortable, viewable and actionable en masse. M-Dub and the Wolf take great pride in the numerical sorting of massive amounts of data while Shishka languishes softly on a waterbed of e-tears. Also, a fair warning: Don’t pester Shishka’s PM box with cries and bleats for “Mercy.” One time, while watching a replay of a Saved Film that involved me doing something you can only dream of having the skill to perform, I extolled, “GOOD LAWD, HAVE MERCY!” Shishka looked up and said “You’re welcome.” All I have to say is OUCH! The only way i play Halo any more is on MatchMaking. I completed campaign on legendary a while ago, and i'm not that into forge.

i had a pic of clone on my screenies, but i deleted it, it wasn't my game, i joined with a friend (honest) cud i still get banned?

Campaign, Custom Games, and Forge are still available for you to use and the amount of users bans is not large and certainly not the 40% the quoted user believes.
