Using The Pistol in Halo PC v.s. Using the Pistol in Halo XBOX
Everyone knows that the Pistol is by far the best all-around weapon. On Xbox Halo, I OWN with the pistol. With normal health and shields, you're dead in three shots (BAM BAM BAM).
However, I find it to be more difficult to use the pistol on Halo PC due to the Lag Factor (LF). Even in a very fast server, the LF is still present. I put the cross-hair on the target when they're running and I miss. I put it a little ways in front of them, and sometimes I hit them (definitely not the 3-shot kill).
So in the opinions of some experienced Halo PC players, exactly how far ahead do you put the cross-hair in front of the target? I know servers will be different, and when you host your own you can put the C-H on the target, but I can't host very well.

Well I lead my targets so i have to go with pistol in PC ver.

its not just the lag that is the problem, after comparing xbox to pc pistols (ok i shot at a wall for a while) i noticed that there is HEAPS of spread in the pistol in PC and very little to none on the xbox, as for leading.... get used to it

Most Console gamers arent that great on PC and visa versa(there are exeptions), for example, I get owned on Xbox from my freinds, but I can own them on PC. And Im 1337 on the Xbox Counter Strike, but a 9 year old could awp me on the CS PC version. But I can get a 3-4 pistol death most of the time, but dont blame it on lag, thats for noobs. But I guess its diffrent strokes for diffrent folks.

the real difference between pistol on pc or xbox is the lack of auto aim. it still has perfect accuracy, and if pings arre under 200 you don't have to lead much, you just have to have the center of the reticle on the target, unlike xbox it can't just be red. sniper rifle is a whole different story there, there's a huge difference between sniping on a server you host and a server you don't host.

Yeah, it is a lot harder to use the pistol on the PC, but I like it in a way. Its nice that the pistol isnt such a dominate weapon now. I hated the fact that it is the only weapon people ever use or get good at on XBox. I see a lot more variety with the weapon choices on Halo PC. On XBC all everyone ever uses is pistols. Of course the keyboard and mouse tend to balance out the weapons IMHO. I still think the pistol is very usable on Halo PC. It just takes some practice.

Yeah the pc pistol sucks horribly. The xbox version is so much better. And the banshee is freaken unbalanced like crazy.

yeah i noticed that, i also noticed on PC the sniper rifle only zooms to 8x, where on xbox, it zooms to 10x

Seriously, for PC the pistol lacks too much compared to Xbox. I could never kill anybody in three shots on PC... but Ya now we can't do much, cause thats how things are. What you expect from a "Computer" game? Now for Xbox, its my personally call it my "lil friend." you cannot walk around without it as your second weapon... I love the team that made these games, but the point is that the Xbox version. SO STOP all this F***ing complains about the pistol, if everyone knows what has the better handling!!! ... im bored... im gona play Halo or something... WHERE'S MY SHOTTY (shotgun) !!!???

I agree that the lag makes the pistol trickier to use than it is on XBox, but such is netplay. If we want the convenience of big-numbers games at our home consoles anytime at all we have to deal with lag. It sucks, but it's the reality of it. :( It also seems to me that the pistol's range is less than on the XBox. People standing still across the canyon (across the width, not the length) in Blood Gulch are easy targets on the XBox, but the reticle doesn't even go red on PC.

i used to xbc all the time before halo pc came out, then i cleaned out my room, and settled everything where they belong, and really the pistol in PC is alot suckier than the xbox

There really shouldn't be lag from the one of the biggest games in the world! Is HALO PC broadband only? and can you set up games with low ping enteries only? Lets get together and create a petition, for faster servers, the occasional lag fuk is ok just not every second like some games, unacceptable!

i have 256k adsl and i live in australia, i have alot of lag in halo pc mp. i do the shoot infront thingy its usually succesful but very annoying. For laggy situations i use very explsive guns they work a bit better but i hate it when u shoot a rocket from the rocket hog and hit another hog like 5 times, they flip into the air and half way up they apear on the ground driving like nothing even happend, i shot a random rocket on infnate and there was an explosion in the air and it said that i killed such and such and then a warthog apeared tumbling through the air :S

I think the pistol is great in the Pc-version. I think the shotgun is the gun that doesn't have the same power as it has on the xbox-version...

U know i had the same problem in the biginning, but once you get the hang of it, 3 shots they are dead, sometimes i get in the zone and three people are dead before i reload once, i love it, but ya lag blows.

The ammount you need to lead a target depends on the ping of the person you're aiming at. Usually someone under 200 can be lead by aprox 2-3 MC's, where dialup is anyone's guess. For the most part you have to guess the leading and once you get the hit noise you need to remember the distance and go with that. There's really no elegant way to do it. Of coarse if there were no leading the pistol would be rediculously overpowered (on account of mouse & keyboard accuracy) and need to be nerfed. Not that i'm in any way saying that leading is a good thing.

I had XBC for a while, but I didn't like it. I had to drop my firewall to get into a server (which I do NOT like doing). When I managed to get into a server...whoa...it was LAG CITY!

pistol is crappy in halo pc, whats the point in it if it lags so much? Xbox all the way with XBC or if ur not cool enough to know, Xbox Connect

It's the same when im sniping. Darn lag... U'd really have to lead off with the rocket launcher!
