I remember seeing a post here before about Frankie's (suspiciously intentional) calendar error. It said that September 13th was a monday...and that First Strike ends on September 13th. What I have just found seems to be an eerie coincidence...or was it all timed out?
I was cruising the Marathon story page on bungie.org when I came across the Cortana Letters, and much to my shock, I found the following which was discovered on September 13th 1999 on a Monday ;-)
"Sept 13, 1999 (Monday)
Tyson Green, maintainer of The Core web site, found a Cortana message in the new (1.3 version) of the Myth:TFL CD. The text reads as follows:
That was surprisingly easy. Pretty lax security around here, for all the talk. They will
be helplessly chasing me around their nodes for the next millenium at least. At least
there will be some joy in tormenting this other entity that seems quite "trapped" in
their excuse for a network. Although, for some reason, it does seem to have an obsessive
preoccupation with my mother. Strange.
At any rate, I found this "message" in a relatively archaic databank and thought some of
you might find it of interest. Then again, I'm often either bemused or startled at the
items you find interesting.
I'm still not sure what it is he saw in you.
Cortana
Hard to say whether it's been tampered with or modified; you never know with these
things:
Entry: 97 - SC1C
In a relatively brief period of time, the achievements of SolCore had resulted in an
economically stable, technologically mature, rapidly expanding empire of eight human
worlds. Advancements in technology arrived at a faster pace than the most optimistic
scientists could have ever envisioned. Unexpected contact with indigenous human
populations on four "lost colony" worlds led to a frenzy of research as archaeologists,
theologians, astronomers, and evolutionary biologists competed to offer an explanation
for the startling discovery. Many accepted the findings as proof that their privileged
civilization must surely be the most advanced in the universe. Others eagerly
anticipated future interaction with intelligent "aliens". The fear of not being the only
sentient species in the universe was forgotten in the giddy excitement of a new era for
humanity.
No one was prepared for their arrival.
No one expected this.

You brought nothing to this world, and we will ensure you bring nothing out."
Now does anyone know if September 13th in the year 2552 falls on a Monday?
Oh, and if anyone has a link to the September 13th topic, please feel free to post it here.
:-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) :-)

Guys, why are you getting angry/annoyed? It just discussion, and about a videogame. No reason to be upset. I'm just saying that's a really freaky coincidence, I'm not dead set saying that the game is coming out on September 13th. And Frankie's supposed calendar mishap is NO MISTAKE, that was done on purpose for a purpose. I, and other people are merely trying to find more clues and try to find out what exactly is happening on that day. MC Number 117-How do you know Bungie didn't already know? Never trust Bungie. Reiginko-Just saying it's a huge coincidence, simmer down now. (I think JoeyBagaDonuts is a Hunter fan =P)

@ DeilGyre: Dude. You complian about obsession over launch dates & countdowns, and yet your signature is a countdown ITSELF. Wow.

Umm, the discovery of the "hidden" Cortana message on the TFL CD has nothing at all to do with Bungie - it had been on there since the CD was released. The CD was not released on the 13th of September. I suppose they could have used their Mind Control Ray on Tyson so he would find it on the 13th, but that seems like an awful lot of effort just to give hints about Halo 2's release. Bungie has no idea of the date which they will release Halo 2 on. And if they don't know now, they definitely didn't know in 1999. Hell, just a year or so ago they were saying "hopefully by the end of 2003". This must stop now. - Reiginko

I have a feeling hunters wont be in halo 2.

The book came out way before Bungie ever decided it would be released in fall. Plus games never come out on Mondays.
-
The more we look, the more we find. Have fun with your book.
-
Yea, guys. Stop obsessing over launch dates and countdowns, for crying out loud. It makes the waiting harder. :)
-
