Administering Trust

The trust system has remained a bit of a mystery (as I'm sure it will stay one for good reasons) to many if not all of us normal users. One thing I would like to know is how trust is administered. Is it purely automated or do the ninjas and such have a "good boy" button that gives out trust? Or a mixture of the two, or maybe something entirely different?

I was banned because my brother was banned and we share a computer giving me a lovekly message from the soul about Alt accounts, this was back at the end of Jan. Because of this short ban I lost my Heroic Member status without having done anything wrong, the ban was reduced to one day by Recon Number 54 and yet that one day ban has kept the title stripped for just over a month. I got the title on New Years Day (before it became easier to have a member title), lost it less than a month later, how can a small ban have so much influence and not be made up with continuous good behavior a month later especially when it has become easier to become a Heroic, Legendary and mythic member (which went from 13 people to 200!)?
You are your brother's keeper. Seriously. Literally. Tons of people have the it was my little brother story. I am sure that you have heard it before many times. All the more reason that, even if it was your little brother, and you had no knowledge of his account, you should make sure that he does not do anything to get banned. Take it as an opertunity to take responsibility of your surroundings. There may be no legal basis for you to be punished if your brother committed a crime but there is a basis for you to be banned here 1) Your little brother may not exist (it could be you) 2) You may have participated in the wrong doings of your little brother 3) Your little brother lives in an environment where where it was ok to violate rules. Either you live in the same environment or you created this environment if you are the little brothers guardian Explain to your little brother how wrong it was and how much you have to go through because of his actions. The title change only shows that you were not 100% responsible in your computers environment. It is just a title and an acruate one in my opinion. BUCKLERockstaR
I'm over it now. My brother does exist, we share a computer, he got banned then the soul banned me and sent me a message about an alt account. Please don't insult me, his account is L3W15 7, he has a GT linked, tell me why I would pay for a gold account with the name Lewis when my name is Tom? That was rhetorical, please don't further the argument. I speak the Tru7h.

 • Trust is a very funny thing. People want to know how to get it, but in the end it just makes the people you're trying to have trust you more paranoid and distrustful of you. This is how I see it for real life trust, and the Bungie forum trust system. [Edited on 05.07.2008 12:07 PM PDT]

 • I love it when people say that time on the website plays the biggest role in the trust. When it really doesn't. Although it plays a small part on your trust rating, I believe the biggest factor, is quality/quantity of posts, and lack their of warnings/bans. I've seen plenty of members from '03 or '04 that are regular members and '05/'06 that are heroic or higher. Time on this website only plays a small part.

Why have you used my profile?
HA! I never realised you were logged on, you must have put your account to log in automatically and then I noticed after the post had been submitted. Ah well, you bumped an ancient thread when you could have just PM-ed me, shame on you.

What makes you change in a negetive way?
I have been demoted as well, to a Legendary member. Maybe the system was adjusted and we don't fit the criteria anymore? :/
I suppose. But now I am sad.
I pm'ed Achronos and here is what he had to say:
It is because the thresholds for ratings change daily based on the maximum possible trust one could have (which also changes daily). If you're right on the edge, it is possible that you'll flip flop occassionally.
This has happened to me before and it could very well be the case again. I'll just wait and see.
