The Flood: Liberty Lost.

Right, well, for those who are both interested and uninterested in reading, I should best fill you in on what exactly I'm writing about. Almost one year ago, I started a series of stories in which I used characters from this forum and put them into my story. To fully understand this story, you should be well acquainted with the backstory of "The Flood." You can find them in their original forms with the links. The Flood 2 is here The Flood 3 is here The Flood 4:Parallel Worlds is here. Alternatively, you could join The Colonel Corbec Club and read them without posts in-between each chapter of the story. TO EARN INSTANT B.NET FAME, JUST ASK ME VIA PM OR THIS THREAD TO JOIN THE STORY AS A CHARACTER. I will require a description of what you look like or picture of you to include you in the story, and can make no promises as to whether you will get in or not. Please enjoy the story and thank you for your time. [Edited on 2/10/2007]

 •
Posted by: Xbox Halo Guy Awesome! That was just….Freakin awesome! This Story seemed a bit shorter but that might just be me. Nice non-stop action Corbic. Once I started reading that last chapter, I just couldn’t stop. As pyroshark said “One final, brilliant showdown.”(The Keyword being Brilliant).
Ah, how good it feels to be worshipped.
Sally’s Dead, OMFG(I don’t say that often)!
Yeah, I know. It pained me to kill that character, but it was absolutely necessary to continue the series.

As pyroshark said “One final, brilliant showdown.”(The Keyword being Brilliant). Sorry I have been off a lot lately. Been a bit busy and haven’t had more than 5 minutes to get on. Hopefully the group systems will be back on soon because that’s one of the main reasons I come here (besides Corbic stories). I might start reading your new story “Death Games “ but it all depends how much time I can devote to bungie.net Sally’s Dead, OMFG(I don’t say that often)!

 • Simple solutions: [*]Mind-wipe every chav you see; make them forget all about your birthday [*]Create some sort of tool of massive pain-infliction. Use it as appropriate. [*]Learn some sort of martial art in 4 days. Exercise as appropriate. [*]Hide in a dark, dank cave. By the way, that post you just made was this thread's 150th. And it had a mention of chavs. I feel dirty now... -Pyroshark-

 • I doubt I'll have a good one in the company of a few doen chavs eager to give me over a dozen "Birthday Beats." Nevertheless, my Homework qouta has been fairly light this week, doubtless because of the trip. Thus freeing up more time for my writing.

NEWS ITEM No. 1 [*]Firstly, I have already been secretly producing the latest Chapter of The Flood: Death Games. NEWS ITEM No. 2 [*] Darker stuff, this. Right, from the 19th of March (2007,) I will depart for the Continent. This means I will be going to Madrid, in Spain, on Europe, which is in the Western Hemisphere of Planet Earth in the Milky Way Galaxy, The Universe. I depart at somethign like 5.00 AM from Gatwick in case any of you want to wave me goodbye. I then return five days later on the 23rd. Annoyingly, I arrive at about Midnight. What pisses me off even more is I will be in Madrid for my Birthday, the 22nd of March. So anyway, there you have it then.

 • HOLY CRAP! Sid, you're back!
Posted by: Sid Saber I see how it works. Just cause I cant come here regularly to read your stories I get killed. *sniff* I didnt realized how much Pyroshark hated my character, I mean, how cruel can you be to kill a helpless person?
No, no, I'm sorry! But I really needed to come up with a way to get Pyroshark and Corbec into a proper blood feud. If all that lay between them was the secret of how Sally and Corbec got to the throne, then a "Live and Let Live" policy might come into play, with neither side trying to kill each other. So again, sorry, but I really needed a good plot device and you were just the ticket. Don't worry, you'll still be in later versions of the story.
Im really sorry that I cant get on the computer to read these stories (which are top-notch by the way). Apparently this parental ban has evolved into a permaban and the only way I ever get to come on is if Im home alone (like right now) or at a friends house. But I have not forgotten you Corbec!! I shall return someday!!!
Man, that really sucks. A permaban on such a simple thing as the PC? I dread to think how Draconian your parents are if they do something like that. I feel extra guilty for topping off your character now.
PS. If you ever get Live send me a FR. And why havent you been on lately Pyroshark?
Will do. My birthday is in about seven days so maybe i'll get Live then. Maybe. If not, I'll see you when I see you.

And you died by your Emperor's side, an honour that many aspire to.
Nice ending - I really liked the chase, it was epic, do you know all these guns or do you own Rainbow 6? By the way, sorry I couldn't post sooner, but I had some work that had to be done.
Bit of both. I know a truckload of guns, and I had Rainbow Six 3. And as for Hunter, the next edition of the series will be released.... Sometime in the future.

 •
Posted by: Pyroshark Wow... just... wow. That was, without a doubt, epic. I'm kinda put-out that this story didn't last longer, but with the gigantic chapter we just got I'm content - no delays between the action, and one final, brilliant showdown. All I can see for the Flood stories now is going to be interesting to say the least - both Pyroshark abd Corbec now have personal blood feuds to solve. I'm personally giddy with the prospect. • Thanks for all the praise, and the only reason this one ended up so short anyway is because I did only a few massive chapters, in comparison to before when I did loads and of short ones. The final chapter for this alone was over ten pages long, in comparison to earlier chapters which were usually about three. Just keep that praise coming though. I just can't get enough glory to bathe in.

 • “Up here.” The Doctor said, opening a door that led onto a flight of stairs. “We’re not far.” He continued. “Stay ahead of me and don’t try anything. Up the stairs. Gamerz, watch our backs and don’t fall behind.” Pyroshark had his pistol drawn and could almost taste the accursed Sally Sabar in the air he breathed. He found her name synonymous with decadence and corruption, no matter how much Floodian propaganda made her seem the virtuous heroine. Ending her life would be a service to the species. Corbec barged through a door and knocked aside a few nurses as they wheeled along a trolley. He glanced from side to side and spotted the Staircase he was looking for. He tried the handle on the closed door. Locked. He stepped back and shot the door lock until his last MP5K clip emptied. When he ran out of ammo, he kicked the door again and it swung open. He charged forward again, drawing his back-up Glock Pistol. “I wanted to ask you to stop taking such risks. I mean, we’re royalty, we shouldn’t be here, heck, if it weren’t for Pyroshark being around to blab about our ascent to the throne, we wouldn’t even be here.” “I can’t go any further, you need to take a right along this corridor through that door, and then take the second left. There are two guards on the door.” The Doctor meekly explained. “I won’t get involved in any shooting.” “It’s alright, you did your part to end the tyranny. Stay here for your own good.” Pyroshark told the Doctor, waved Gamerz over and proceeded on. “No, Sally, look, we’ve both got to stop throwing ourselves into these situations. I’m surprised we’ve both lasted this long, given everything we’ve been through. Sooner or later, we’ll have to let other people do the killing for us.” Corbec had finally got where he wanted. The corridor was populated with confused patients and medical staff, trying to carry on as normal despite the gunfire they kept hearing. Corbec glanced from side to side, getting his bearings. The people all around screamed and dropped flat when they heard gunfire-originating from down the corridor, the corridor Sally’s room was on. “Do we? I mean, do we have to stop doing this? I enjoy these risks Corbec, it makes life interesting. I can’t imagine just moping around some castle just sitting around and making the occasional speech. I want shooting, explosions, car chases and wars!” Corbec rounded the corner to find the door guards slumped in puddles of their own blood-and the door to Sally’s room smashed aside. She was fresh out of surgery right now, she would be anaesthetised and still asleep, unable to defend herself. “I just don’t want either of us to be hurt.” The Uzi burst flew wide, splintering the wall behind him. The shooter dropped the empty Uzi, out of ammunition, it was entirely useless. He rounded the corner, Glock held out before him and ready to fire. But, as it had been plaguing him before, that dread feeling had returned. Across the chamber, the second person, balaclava on, faced him, but with his pistol pointed at the bed. Even with the Balaclava in the way, he could tell who it was, and that he was smiling. Suddenly, Corbec realised only now what that chilling feeling had been telling him-he was too late. Pyroshark pulled the trigger of his pistol, once then twice in rapid succession. Crimson splashed everywhere, and Sally’s body convulsed on the bed. The Terrorist who had just dropped the Uzi drew a pistol and fired on Corbec, making him instinctively duck into cover. “Gamerz! The Window!” He barked, firing his pistol in one hand at the nearest window while running at it, the glass fractured, weakened from the bullets. When Pyroshark bull-rushed through the window it just came apart. Gamerz threw herself after him. They both fell from the first floor window onto a garden with hedgerows a little way off from their position. Pyroshark landed awkwardly, Gamerz perfectly. Pyroshark rolled, using his momentum to propel himself forward and got up running. The two of them non-verbally agreed to dash for the hedges and make their escape there. Corbec slowly, hesitantly edged out into the open, not because he was afraid that Terrorists might be hiding and waiting for him too, but because he didn’t want to see what was so obvious. Sally, beautiful as ever, lay prone on the bed, her wounds stark red in contrast to the white bed sheets. He dropped the Glock pistol, and stumbled to the bedside, tears in his eyes. Sally was already dead, that much was certain. He silently collapsed onto his knees and held one of his dead wife’s hands to his face. At length he released it, his sorrow replaced by rage. He looked up to the ceiling and roared: “PYROSHARK!” The End. [Edited on 3/5/2007]

 • The target Police Car screeched around the corner at the end of the Cul-de-sac, and the Audi roared after it. One hand on the wheel, He checked one of the MP5 Kurz SMGs, it was ready to fire. He had no time to waste and everything to lose here. Either he killed Pyroshark and buried his secret forever, or Pyroshark killed his one true love and he ended up burying her. He was determined, and very, very annoyed, but he had this aching feeling in his gut. But for all the world, he couldn’t quite figure what it was. Pyroshark threw the Car into another hard right turn. He was in the centre of the cultural base of Flondon, the place where Tourists went for daytrips, it was filled with all sorts of quaint old buildings, but he wasn’t there for any of that. Pedestrians threw themselves out of the way and cars lurched to one side to avoid his almost suicidal fast speed for such tight streets. “He’s right behind us.” Gamerz warned. She was in the passenger seat, cradling her P90 SMG like a child. “And there’s where we want to be.” Pyroshark pointed to a large motorway a little way off that they could see above the rooftops. “The route onto it’s not far away. When we get on their I need you to keep Corbec off our backs.” Pyroshark said without looking at Gamerz, he was too preoccupied with not crashing. “Understood.” The Police Car rushed up the ramp onto the M7 Motorway-the one, coincidentally, which Pyroshark and Corbec had chased one another up at high speed before in an earlier escapade. Sitting by the side of the ramp was a Speed Camera, it flashed as it took pictures of the speeding Car, taking them down so the owner would be fined for breaking the limit. Shortly after the Audi roared like a caged animal up the ramp, turning it into a jump, such was the speed it was running at. The Camera was shot to pieces by the driver before it could take any pictures. The Glacier Blue, predatory car clunked back to the ground, still going in excess of Sixty MPH. The Motorway was largely empty, given it wasn’t yet Rush Hour, though some trucks and cars still traversed it. Corbec gripped the wheel and looked around through the rain for his target. There! He spotted the Police Car rushing away, cutting past a lurching lorry and carrying on past it. Corbec mashed the accelerator some more and closed the gap between the two cars. “He’s coming!” Pyroshark hissed, glancing at the rear-view mirror. The sleek, speeding form of the Audi was encroaching on his Police Car like a Lion chasing a wildebeest. But this Wildebeest wasn’t defenceless. Gamerz smashed the sun roof with the butt of her P90 and stood up in her seat, taking aim on the Audi, then firing. Corbec pulled the Audi to a hard right and used a car to hide behind. The flurry of bullets puckered the road where he had been moments before. Corbec dreaded the prospect of damaging his beloved Audi as much as losing Sally Sabar. It had been with him since, well, forever, to damage it or let it be damaged was something incomprehensibly wrong to him. It was like an old friend really, and he looked after it. What are you doing Corbec!? Sally is going to die if you don’t do something! Cars can recover from bullets! Sally can’t! His mind snapped at himself and he brought the car back out again, winding down the driver’s window and firing an MP5K out of it. The sudden barrage forced Gamerz to duck out of the torrential rain or risk losing her head. The bullets impacted into the boot of the car, passing through the boot door but lodging in other material once their initial velocity was spent penetrating the outer metal. Fortunately for the driver and his passenger, nothing critical was hit. Gamerz stood up again when the firing was over, drew her aim again and fired. The Audi was close now, but it was so fast! It jolted form side to side, and while she tried to lead her shots, nothing seemed to work. She fired another burst, then the gun clicked dry. She threw it at the Audi-it dodged that as well. “I’m out!” She called down the Pyroshark, who wheeled the car to one side to avoid another blaze of the MP5K. “Look!” He shouted over the gunfire, the rain and the wind. “We’ll be going under that bridge! And there’s a lorry! Here, Use my Uzi and shoot out it’s tyres! If we’re lucky it’ll make a barrier!” He threw Gamerz his Uzi and the one extra clip for it. The Police Car sped past the lorry, and Gamerz opened up on the wheels, shredding them one at a time. It had the desired effect, the lorry skidded to one side-hard. The back end trailer smashed into the concrete the side of the bridge support and lodged the truck there, with it sitting across the entire three lanes of the motorway. Corbec swore a particularly salty curse involving Pyroshark’s mother and certain after-hours activities, thinking he had lost Sally for good. He stomped on the brakes, bringing his car to a jolting stop. He glanced from side to side, then noticed the ramp up onto the bridge above the blockage, and the chance it offered him. He brought his treasured Audi up to speed and took the ramp, steeling himself for a long jump. He passed no-one on the way up, and he was on the bridge proper, or rather, hurtling toward the barrier. Corbec Leant out the window and emptied his last MP5K clip onto the barrier, to no effect. The Audi still barged through the barrier, smashing it aside with only minor aesthetic damage to the front of the car. For Corbec, things went into slow-motion as the TT hurtled through the air, heading at dangerously high speeds to the ground. Then it all sped up again and the car smashed into the ground on it’s wheels, battered but still alive. Corbec was back in the race, but Pyroshark was too far away. All he could do now was to get to the Hospital and stop Pyroshark there. That chilling feeling in his gut still plagued him. The stolen Police Car rushed down the street towards the Hospital’s glass front door and barged right through it. Metal supports and literally thousands of glass fragments scattered everywhere. The Car, still carried by momentum nearly mowed down several patients and doctors standing around in the front atrium. Pyroshark and Gamerz covered their faces as the Car ploughed through a life-size statue of Corbec, buckling the front bonnet, and hurtled into the wall at the other end. Corbec decelerated the Audi and jumped out as it stopped. He’d just arrived in time to see the target car demolish the front door of the hospital. He sprinted to the front door, hearing the sound of metal wrenching and people screaming. He took the steps up to the shattered doorway three at a time and threw himself sideways to land in a crumpled heap. The Terrorist he’d spotted opened fire with a Uzi SMG just a moment too late to hit him, the bullets hitting thin air and nothing more. Pyroshark fought around the Airbags that had jumped into his face on impact with the wall. He struggled out, and looked around him. There were screaming people lying flat on the floor, an obliterated statue of Corbec and the smoking wreck of his stolen Car. He spotted Gamerz fire a burst at someone in the doorway, but miss. Now he was finally where he needed to be, all Pyroshark had to do was find who he wanted. He grabbed a cowering doctor up by his collar. “Where is the Empress!” He barked. The man was very intimidated, with the balaclava his interrogator wearing making him seem inhuman, and the explosive events going on around him, it was inevitable he would crack. “Top floor!” “Show me! Gamerz, follow me!” Pyroshark growled, shoving the doctor ahead of him. She squeezed of another few rounds off then jogged after Pyroshark and his new friend. Corbec picked himself up and peeked around the corner. Pyroshark had gone. Corbec reckoned that his enemy didn’t know where Sally actually was, while Corbec had already discerned several routes to her room over the many visits to her he had made. He dashed inside and took a left while the man he pursued had broken right. His goal now was not to stop Pyroshark and any that accompanied him, but to reach Sally before her would-be assassin. Fortunately, Sally’s room was watched over by a constant 24-hour guard. Two armed men would always be outside her room at any moment of the day or night. [Edited on 04.27.2007 8:53 AM PDT]
