What happened to the San Shyuum?
As most of us should know the Prophets disappeared shortly after Truth was killed. There was only a population of a few thousand and they basically gave all of their technological expertise to the Brutes and then vanished completely.
Now what could have happened to these San Shyuum? 900 or so people is enough to replenish a population, but their genetics would be Hell and the species has the very possible chance of extinction.
However, there is another interesting thought. The Huragok left around the same time. There were only a few left that hadn't disappeared entirely and only a few of those were Covenant in origin. Could the Huragok have gone with the San Shyuum? Something to think about.
I doubt that this problem would be addressed in the new trilogy since 343i has decided to market the Forerunners heavily as the new enemy. I think the disappearance of the San Shyuum could be a reason to make a whole other trilogy of games.
Many of you might not like that, but hey Halo still has some story potential. Imagine. A rejuvenated San Shyuum race coming back to reclaim their empire after years of dormancy. A moderately good way to start a new story.

IIRC, they are either extinct or very close to it. The Prophets were on High Charity and that got infected. They were the only survivors from their homeworld, which is gone. Even after several thousand years, they had to have an extremely important breeding program to make sure their species survived, so I doubt any survivors will be able to sustain a population.

The Stoics and Reformists were at odds. I don't think the Stoics would welcome them back, assuming then planet didn't blow up. However a lie as big as "the sun went supernova and destroyed a planet" is a pretty big lie to cover up.

Most if not all prophets were on either high charity or covenant ships so when the flood took over high charity most prophets would have been killed. Any left probably didn't have much political power.

They're either extinct or can be counted in the dozens at best. Hundreds would be overly-optimistic for them.

I could see the above user's post about cyborg Sam Shyuum coming to light if the Huragok are with them. Haha that would be awesome seeing a Prophet with cybernetic enhancements choking an elite. I would love that kind of story actually.

Nearly all the prophets lived on high charity. I'm sure some escaped, and others were somewhere else, but I doubt enough survived to sustain their population. There are likely a few scattered here and there with what remains of the covenant remnant (assuming there is one), but their extinction is assured. As for the Huragok? Nobody knows.

Well if I remember correctly the San Shyuum left there original planet and voted to make High Charity there home and you know what to High Charity, flood infection. So most would have become biomass for the flood.
