Destiny and Bungie on the same website? Or, possible separation?

At one point in the IGN bit on Destiny info they mention the possibility that Destiny is the actual name of Bungie's next IP, and the possibility that destiny.com, currently password protected, could be the hoste site to the Destiny universe and franchise. This possibility raises some questions on Bungie.next. Unlike, say, Blizzard - which has a site for Blizzard and a separate site for each of its games - Bungie.net has also been Bungie's main site for it's current game and past games. It helps that Bungie has been pretty much a one-game-at-a-time company, so they could get away with it. But Destiny seems huge. Bigger than halo in in-game universe, community, franchise, and potential expanded universe. Do we really want (we are now thinking of post Destiny release) both all of Bungie and all of Destiny on one site? tl;dr Would you be ok having Bungie.net (perhaps a site for Bungie lore, past games, bungie community, a general Destiny forum, and of course the flood) and Destiny.com (perhaps a game to track and maintain all in game material, faction material and forums, and destiny in-game community) as separate sites? What are your thoughts on the possibility?

 • Seems like it'd be a waste of resources to maintain a separate site for Destiny when they could instead just add all the functionality/stats for it here on B.net, the same as Halo had.

If the universe is as extreme as it sounds to be then perhaps it will be integrated into gameplay somehow. too early to tell. still. [Edited on 11.30.2012 9:51 AM PST]

 • It doesn't seem like they would be separated. Bungie.next will likely integrate Destiny stats and stuff on the site.

 • Bungie.next will soon emerge from it's pupa, spread it's wings, and show us our Destiny. One site. More awesome.

 • I hope not, wouldn't it be kind of redundant for the Web Team to do so much hard work on the New Hawtness just for them to have a completely new website for their new game? The New Hawtness could be the new website and they would transfer everything over but I would just rather them keep it bungie.net instead of chaning to Destiny.com.

 • I imagine that any Destiny forums, stats, and such will be on Bungie.net. What I'm really interested to see is how the game will be integrated with the new hawtness. I'm curious as to what the forum setup will be and what our profile pages will look like.

 • I don't think so, Bungie did the same with Halo 3 and Halo: Reach, they had their separate websites but the forums remained here. I say not to worry, remember this is all speculation, we have nothing solid yet.

 • Bungie has never made a separate site for their games, I doubt they'll start now.

 • Why would they want to waste the time and money maintaining another site, when they could just host it here?

 • All previous Bungie games feature substantial integration with Bungie.net. I doubt they will have a dedicated site for Destiny.

Probably in place if people want to make an offer to buy the site. Here is the whois search for destiny.com
