Do you fast travel in Bethesda RPG's?

In Skyrim right now, I've decided that I will never fast travel on this character, so that quest lines (like the Civil war quest line) don't feel like they were over in an in game day, and to actually see the whole world that Bethesda created.

 • Either I'm doing quests, or exploring. When I'm doing quests, I fast travel. When exploring, no.

 • Most of the time yes, for certain quests I will not.

 • Sometimes I do, Sometimes I don't. It really depends how I'm feeling.

 •
Posted by: SomeGuy7 I would get bored of the game way to quickly if I actually did that every time to get somewhere.
I thought so at first too, but it actually doubled my enjoyment of the game!

Use the werewolf, buy a horse, or become a vampire lord. Cuts travel time by two thirds.
Get Shadowmere, for god's sake. I do prefer him though to the crap horse in Dawnguard, as Shadowmere will actually defend you. But traveling by werewolf is so badass.
I prefer normal horses to the undead horse. I would use shadowmere but I never do the dark brotherhood quests more than once in an Elder scrolls game.

 • I always do for quests, but I make a point of exploring when I get a chance.

Damn... Waking up from sleep, finding yourself having to pick the option to kill 3 people for the crimes that were made up, and they were just puppets to see if you would follow orders is just damn.
I always have found the mercenary to be innocent, and always kill the mother (would a real mother actually threaten you while tied up and blinded while you're aiming a bow at her head? Or would she beg to be released to take care of her children), and the 'defiler of daughters' who obviously is a wanted bastard since he takes not having attempts on his life as an offense. But the merc begs, and obviously is more or less innocent.
I typically just kill them all. And occasionally what'shername as well.

 •
Posted by: TH3_AV3NG3R I think you guys just want to not call it a RPG because it is a bit more simplified than the rest of the series.
It's more than a bit simplified.

 • Yeah, but it's also a reason I like to explore, since I then don't have to walk as far between locations. The more locations I find the more options I have for fast traveling.

 • I fast travel whenever I can. I didn't as much during my playtrough of New Vegas on Hardcore, as it was harder, but while the exploration is the main draw of the game, I'd rather not have to make the walk back to the Strip every time I do a quest.

Horses in Skyrim are not useless.
Horses are great for hunting now, thanks to mounted combat. Good for taking on giants as well. Grab a bow, get some animal skins, or take out that giant that's been a little too close to the road. Although I don't like to kill giants. More of a dickish move, since they're peaceful and are handy dragon deterrents.
All they need to do now is bring back 1st person mode for horses. TES was always about what the player wanted and not being able to go into first person view while on the horse especially since it was in Oblivion rather made me a bit mad. Also, about the other post you made, yeah Skyrim's writing sucks. It seems they need to learn a thing or two from the Mass Effect franchise if we forget about ME3 of course.
Or just take the character writing from KOTOR. Bioware does make some awesome characters that seem to be 'alive'. The only 'alive' chars in Skrim for me are Cicero and Serana, simply because they interact more often, dance, clap, etc. And I did wonder what the -blam!- happened to the first person camera, TP bow aiming on horseback is a pain in the ass I don't want to deal with but have to. The only really awesome, perfect quest I think was the Dark Brotherhood, as I actually got pissed when my bro's got killed, and was happy to find out that -blam!-r had survived (along with HOLY -blam!- THE BLACK DUDE LIVED?!). The Thieves Guild was mehish meanwhile, the Main Quest was OK, but the Civil War sucked balls. I mean really, Attack of the Clones had a better tension and climax, and writing. Those speeches were laughably botched and washed out by the music. 'Least Christopher Plumber did a great job.
