If Halo 3: ODST were big enough to be a standalone game

With its own multiplayer (not Halo3) along with its native firefight mode and a campaign that was as long as Halo 2 and it was called Halo: ODST... Would you still buy it? Would you have enjoyed it less or more? Personally it would have probably been my favourite Halo game. In its current state i feel its too short and playing multiplayer as an odst would be fun.

 •
Posted by: W0lfkill
Posted by: valker It had my favorite single-player of all the games and-- though I cannot describe a logical reason why-- I enjoyed its Firefight ten times more than Reach's. If multiplayer had been added, I would've crapped myself. :P
Reach's FF was soooo much worse than ODST's.
it was the great maps, Buggers, and the sense of not feeling like a bad ass super soldier, just a bad ass ODST. Not to mention the lighting. The engine lighting was perfect. Like the way every halo game after should of looked like just with better graphics. You know?

 • It was worth 60 as it was. This would be a no-brainer.

 • I was disappointed with the campaign, but the music and atomosphere were good. Firefight was okay but more could have been done with it. My dream campaign would have been something like the odst trailer were in the beginning you are an inexperienced odst dealing with insurrectionists, then as time goes on the covenant join in and your dropped into impossible missions until finally you're on earth. Maybe 343 could do something like this but with spartan IVs and new enemies

 • ODST was hands down the best campaign Bungie ever did.

 •
Posted by: bagan bodies 2 Honestly, ODST was easily among the core Trilogy in terms of quality in every aspect it had available. If it had a dedicated multiplayer and what-have-you however...I don't know, it could very well have been the best Halo game yet. Funny how an "expansion pack" was better than a full game (Reach)
Funny how games always turn out best when the odds are against the devs at Bungie. They had to scrap the majority of Halo 2 not too long before release and redo most of it, and look at how people view it now! I'm looking forward to the next little "side-project" Bungie ends up developing.

 •
Posted by: Endoterrik 13 I enjoyed ODST and thought it was a great stand alone game. It had a great ambiance and feel to it. I especially liked the night time levels with the Rookie, and locating the clues(back-story levels) to find out what happened to your squad was an awesome way to present a plot.
• It'd be really interesting if Bungie actually made an ODST multiplayer. It would have made the game alot better, imo, even if the multiplayer wasn't that great.

 • The only thing objectively bad about it was that it was so short. You're saying fix that. How could it not be better?

 • It should have had its own multiplayer. Maybe three or four playlists. That'd be cool. And you'd be ODST's, so it would be a totally different experience, similar to Battlefield or Medal of Honour.

You need to stick together and play it tactical. Dodging enemies like chieftans and hunters were harder so power weapons were saved to use on them. Whereas in reach its quite easy to jump over a hunter or chieftan and shotgun them in the back., or stick them and run away. Plus the vidmasters made for some great times. Vidmaster: Endure... damn those last waves were tense!

 •
Posted by: Thomsn0w To be honest, it was more of a Halo 2: ODST but I can see why it wasn't called that because of Halo 3 being out and all.
It used 3 instead of 2 because of the engine it used.

 • It was a pretty good game. It was short, but it was fun. If it had its own multiplayer, as long as it was similar to Halo 2 or 3, I would probably still be playing it.
