By this I mean have you ever gone back several pages to a thread long dead and bumped it back to the front page? If so, how far back do you go? The second page? The last page before the topics are closed due to inactivity? If you do this, why do you? If not, why not?

My spidey sense tells me that there are about 10 users here waiting for this thread to fall off the front page so that they can post in it. In fact, I would not be surprised to find out that a few of you are setting calendar reminders to come back and post in this thread in 2 months. Because of this, and because of the self-evident answer to the OP (i.e., people post in dead threads either because (1) they want to participate in the discussion or (2) they think it is funny), I think it's best to lock this. Only if I have something relevant to add to the conversation. Even then, not often.

Nope!

Nah not really.
Posted by: EAGLES5 Only in the flood.
Fair enough. A thread is off the front page in a few minutes.

Only in the flood.

Not with malice.
Posted by: Mythical Wolf No because doing so can earn you a visit from the DS.
Not if you are posting on topic and contributing to the discussion. Only if you are legitimately bumping. Perhaps I should have chosen my words more carefully for the title.

I don't try to, but the furthest has been the second page from what I remember.

No because doing so can earn you a visit from the DS.
