How did we go from here to the crimson we have today?
So many achievements in just one year ... does all of this count towards world domination?
Posted by: chacharap is that true?
So true ... funny how bungie expected/demanded from their almighty throne that indie developers worship at their feet in gratitude for the mercies bungie would bestow upon them. Funny, in that these cash hungry developers ran a mile ... in the opposite direction. Even the one developer they did get, as a friendly payback favor, never returned. And all this in a year.
Posted by: Mythical Wolf Adbot? Man these things are everywhere.
Perhaps if bungie had employed some of these tools poor old Hairebrained Schemes would have got a few more units sold. In its [cough] publisher role, did bungie do ANY marketing of CSP??? Remember one of two initial press releases about aerospace and bungie and "how lucky indie startups were to have bungie, because they are great" ... but nothing from bungie when it was all about the game. And now, in the lead up to christmas??? Funny - bungie can build a banhammer to automatically punish people, but cant think of a tool to help.
Posted by: path1k not sure if Warner will be keen on collaborating with Aerospace once they find out about the progress Harebrained Schemes made under BUNGiE's direction
lol bungie aerospace. Lets look at bungies plan of "Each partnership will be tailored to the needs of your team and project". Financial Resources Worked out so well that Harebrained Schemes have gone elsewhere FOR EVERY GAME since their run with bungie. They even launch a public JV - bungie doesnt even as a contributor anywhere ... (given bungie couldnt even put up the $310 to kep their trademark active - what do they mean by 'Financial Resources') An Audience with our Kick Ass Community lol ... this alone would scare most people off. Would any developer throw their proud works to the savagery that is bungie.net? PR & Marketing Support The jokes keep coming ... can anyone point to a single piece of marketing that bungie has sponsered in the last 6 months in relation to CSP??? Should be easy, with the lead-in to Christmas, perfect game marketing time. QA/Testing & User Research That worked out well - QA/Testing, just go check the forum. Release Management Support Ahhh, guess bungie never did believe in patches - so perhaps nothing is up to their standard. Technology & Expertise for: Web, Servers, Database, and Back-end Services Honestly ?!? ... even the game distribution is via other people servers. And if you compare "Web sites, HBS own support is years ahead of bungies ... we even have forum mods asking questions here because the bungie FAQ page is so incomplete and out of date. So much material ... so little post space ... sigh.
Posted by: Lancexlink I wanna plush grunt...
So YOUR the one that bungie listens to!! Like a LOT of bungies great plans it never mad it to reality. Despite being the 'most demanded', and 'what we all want' ... (oh, and not to forget make heaps more $$ for bungie) ... they lost focus. At least aerospace got one game signed up before bungies mind wondered whistling another tune (or just plain 'went dark' ... who did turn the lights off in bungies head anyway?!?) Plus it was going to cost US$170.00 ... for a 12in high orange fluffy toy (which looked more like Alf than a grunt, anyone else remember Alf - the comical alien).
Posted by: Try It's failed domination!
Yeah, bungie is lost without Microsoft to drag them to success. They went from basic nobodies, in 2000 Microsoft brought the brand and turned it into gold ... post 2007 bungie go their own way and disappear into darkness (even adopting the slogan we have gone dark"?!?) But when you statements of direction like this "Were literally looking at making a grunt plushie this year, and not because - well itll probably sell a lot and make a lot of money - but because its the single most-demanded item that we havent fulfilled in the franchise history". Their KPI? - "make a lot of money" and - "most-demanded item" - lol Forget fixing game bugs, forget new maps, or actual games ... what we WANT (or demand) is plush toys ... expensive plush toys. And take that into aerospace. No wonder the crimson/aerospace project died in less than a year. Wonder if this will stop bungie bagging future publishing partners?
Posted by: path1k world domination? once the rights of Halo fell into the hands of 343i, BUNGiE has to settle with with app store domination.
That was until even Hairbrained Schemes dumped them like a cold rock ... HBS has released a number of games since, but none through poor old bungie. Guess bungue will always have the collectors shirts ... now heavily discounted, and plenty in stock.
