this feeling is called sad..

its sad to think that through it all and all the good halo days that, bungie arnt thought in the same light as halo any more its sad to think i used to be on this website every week looking halo stuff now, bungie have gone from the company everyone talked about to the one everyone has forgotten, so remind me again why did they get rid of halo? there best and indeed the best game of all time ? eish i was still young when all this was still popular and awesome...

 • I feel like no matter what we say, OP is going to still complain Bungie is lame now and he wants more Halos. Well 343i is doing that for you, go there. I'm going to assume from your broken english posts you aren't native to speaking english, so you probably haven't followed Bungie very long or looked through their archieves. You'll see Bungie has taken a great story, and said "you know what? Time for something new" and completely went a different direction. And each time...It hasn't ended (too) badly. Point is. If you're here solely for Halo, and not Bungie themselves, you'd benefit from going over to 343i's site. But if you're here because you realize Bungie is an amazing Game developer, and that every time they go into darkness, the wait will be worth it; then you better get used to it. Cause I can bet you, this isn't the last we'll see of the darkness.

 • I must say - it sure will be different to see Halo developed further by 343 and not Bungie, and it will never be the same as the days when Halo was alive and well on BNET, with the best stats you could ever imagine, excellent discussion, exciting Weekly Updates, the overall burning passion for Halo, and so on. However, although it is sad to see all of that Halo goodness of BNET come to a close, think about what they brought us with that. Incredible games, incredible stats, an incredible community, and passion and excitement for the series. Ten years of it. And those of us who have been around here since then have lived through it and enjoyed every moment of it. This is the part that excites me - what is to come. They did it with Halo, they created an incredible passion for a series that hasn't been done before, they innovated console gameplay and multiplayer in ways that still haven't been matched, developed an incredible community, and I'm excited for that to happen again, to see what's coming next, and for the Blue fire that's Burning Bright to explode again with excitement that was once here with Halo. It'll come, and we'll meet it when it does. I can't wait. Long live the Seventh Column. [Edited on 09.21.2012 12:12 PM PDT]

 • I don't think it would be good for Bungie to continue working on Halo. They've been making Halo games for so long, and it was time for them to move on to something fresh and new. Bungie is currently developing Destiny, and is keeping their lips sealed on information regarding the game, so you can't just write that off as them being 'forgotten'. Personally, I can't help but tremble in excitement when I think of what Destiny could bring, seeing as Bungie has always surprised with new, innovative ideas. By the way OP, your points as to why Bungie shouldn't have moved on from Halo are extremely silly and childish. If you want anyone to take you seriously, you should use proper grammar too.

 • I think all that is needed is an epic campaign.. if the game wholly exists online there will be horrible repercussions. Final Fantasy XI online destroyed the heck out of that franchise, luckily Bungie is starting from scratch but the amount of time they've put into this i expect diamonds and platinum raining from the skys.

 • Please note that the amount of innovation has gone down each and every time they made a game, as you illustrated Recon. I think there will have to be some seriously amazing things for Destiny to be the hit Bungie needs it to be. I'm hoping for a really awesome game, whatever it is. I'm sure it will be fun one way or another, even if only for a short time.

They've made similar choices before, and each time, their next project was impressive.
Egh, I kind of have this gut feeling that Destiny won't hit that wow factor and will just be another game. :/
I have no preconceptions, no high hopes, no low ones lest I be disappointed. I just know how creative these guys can be, that they have grown and allowed for a great deal of "specialized expertise" to fill in areas that were previously handled by those who wore "multiple hats" and did great work regardless of their hat. I don't know if what made their past games so great was the small but incredibly flexible team they had, and I don't know if making the team larger, more specialized, but each specialist is INCREDIBLE at their specialty is going to have the same outcome. I don't know. I do know this though. Marathon pioneered a lot of things. Network FPS multiplayer Map editing Save films Immersive storyline Cross platform capability Myth then pioneered some things of its own. Real-time tactical simulation AI evolution Then there was Halo Seriously brought the FPS to a console Created a LAN and splitscreen MP phenomenon Halo 2 introduced Matchmaking, and RPG elements to MP Halo 3 refined the RPG elements and stat collection etc. So, when I hear that "we've been thinking about this current project for years, we think that we finally can make it work, it's really exciting, and we HAVE to keep is secret because (just like the Matrix) "no one can be told what it is, they have to see it for themselves in order to understand it".... all of those things, they have me...... patiently curious and in a state of relaxed hopefulness. I am looking forward to see what they've been working on for so long and with so many people.

 • This isn't the first time they have created a successful series of games and then moved on. Marathon and Myth were both VERY highly regarded in their respective niches and Bungie decided when "this story is complete, we could make more, but we're not going to, we'd like to do something different and more interesting to us". Each and every time that has happened, they've come up with something that has been (in one form or another, to one extent or another) genre breaking and/or genre defining. Leaving MS and Halo behind is not really that unique an event for these guys. They've made similar choices before, and each time, their next project was impressive.

 • Bungie: A New Hope. It begins with Destiny (hopefully). True, I am going to miss a Bungie created Halo game but seeing as how Reach came out, I'd rather have their talents put towards something fresh and new (without that ridiculous High-standard bar).
