Thoughts on improving the quality of posting and general content
It's common knowledge that the quality of posting on the Bungie.net forums, especially while Bungie is dark, is sometimes lacking. This isn't surprising; this community features an extremely wide range of ages, so the content of what we post should be expected to vary dramatically.
With that being said, I like to think that with age comes some wisdom. There currently is nothing in place that records a user's literal age, and for privacy reasons it should remain that way. Luckily for us, there already exists a system that (theoretically) tracks one's time and general behavior on Bungie.net: forum titles.
If we assume that the older members of this site are the most wise, and they generally are, then it can further be determined that, given the forum title system, said members are already designated as such in the public forums.
The Mythic Members.
Unfortunately, a common trend I can personally attest to witnessing is the migration of older members into private groups. While I wont state my own opinion, many Mythic Members seem to feel that, as older members of the site, more is expected of them. Because of this, the rules are enforced more harshly upon them. There's essentially a target on the backs of our top tier of members.
The fix I'm proposing is that regulation be loosened for those members who obtain Mythic status.
Mythic Members are inarguably the content creators on these forums. Even when a user of a lesser title group manages to create a quality thread/post, especially here in the Septagon, it's usually a rehash or direct reference to an older thread, most likely created by a user that is now mythic. Mythics essentially enable younger and less experienced users to create quality posts.
In fact, it may be more beneficial to cut down on nonsense and enforce moderation on non-Mythic Members even more rigidly, so they have only the example of Mythic posting to influence their own habits.
By loosening the reigns on the blue bars and knuckling down on non-Mythics, the quality of posts Mythic Members create will trickle down and influence the legendary, heroic, and ordinary members of this site, benefiting all.
Mythics are the content creators, so they should be free to do so for the greater good.

I just got this blue bar back, and I'd expect the mods to expect more of me, as a poster here. It means that I have abided by the rules for long enough, and I should continue to do so. I think equality is key, not privilege on the internet.

It's funny how a lot of none blue rank members hate the elitism and accuse blue ranks to be elitist and still plenty members are trying to become blue rank members. Not all blue ranks are elitist and not all blue ranks care to be have a blue rank, such as myself, I didn't worked hard to get a blue rank nor care to lose it. I have always liked the idea of Mythic incentives or maybe a little extra available flair (i.e. avatars, profile backgrounds, etc.) but this has to be one of the worse ideas I have seen. There are too many Mythic members whose personalities and attitudes have been somehow negatively affected by becoming a Mythic member for anything like this to be considered. If given the right to post about say... a political topic, I can imagine a newer member wanting to post his own political topic only to receive a flood of blue-hat flames including, "You don't have the right to post this!" and "You haven't 'earned' Mythic yet so you can't post this!" and a bunch of other obviously hot-headed, offended replies all because Mythic members "earned" it and everyone else hasn't. Honestly, I'd say a little less than half of Mythic members are overly full of themselves. Quite a few Mythic members are jerks and [i]truly[/i] believe they are better than others who don't have a blue title bar. Primo, after beating you in fantasy football this week, I ask you this: what do you consider "good content" or "quality content" that no one else besides a Mythic member has put forth in this community? Everyone has the capability, many don't realize they are capable of this recently mentioned "quality". One thing I did notice about your OP that maybe you didn't do purposely is that your idea doesn't include restricting non-Mythic members, in which I applaud. That is the reason I took the time to actually put together a thought out response to your idea. Again, I would love to see some incentives but we can go without this. I don't see why everyone's upset with shoe's post. There's so much faulty reasoning and anger in it that it clearly cannot be serious. While I may have different reasons, I have always advocated what PA is basically trying to communicate. All problems stem from the rules, so clearly if we eliminate the rules we will no longer have problems.

I think everyone should follow the rules and be cool. It's a tradition here at BUNGiE. The changes you purpose seem unnecessary and I honestly don't think they'll effect the posting quality. Sorry to shoot this down; I just disagree.

I think the mods need to go far more harshly on Mythic members, actually. Having been one, I can attest to the mind set which some mythic members post to. Some, in certain groups, almost feel more entitled than everyone else when posting. I think the site just needs to run as per usual, on a case by case basis to ban or warn the elder members. We've been here long enough. We know the rules, and can act accordingly.

There is already a thread for any post related to titles. Therefore, this thread is spam. I'm sorry you can't seem to fill in the blanks, but I was rather mad, and still am at a high level of anger. Nonetheless, I'm quite tired of any thread that is satirical and can remain unlocked even though it should be taken down. I don't want to read these jokes, they would stand better within the Mythic Member group, or any other group. I come to the Community Forum for decent discussion, not satirical jokes about a system well past it's time. Forgive my outburst, I just can no longer stand these threads.
