I love the mystery plot, it was different
-
gameplay wise it felt too much like H3
-
Definitely one of my favourites. I love the atmosphere when you are roaming the streets of New Mombasa as the Rookie. [Edited on 09.01.2012 8:57 AM PDT]

One of the best.

I loved it.
-
I loved it because it played like a good short story. It was personal, and it was human. Good times were had.

Ooops, messed up my post... [Edited on 08.28.2012 10:04 PM PDT]

I really enjoyed the ODST campaign; it was something different and expanded the Halo universe in an interesting way.
-
Yep. Just finished a legendary solo run through a few weeks ago.

I just find all the encounters so similar, and the small weapon count means that eventually I get bored of using the pistol.
Posted by: toystory2wasok
Posted by: Water Beetle It has a good story, great immersive enviroment and it adds some believability to the Halo universe. The only thing I don't like is the unrealistic gameplay.
wat
ODST added a kind of familiarity to the universe we can all recognise. A realistic city environment, complete with cars, buildings, adverts, it was clear remnants of what human life used to be like before the Covenant attacked. Very much like us. Plus Sadies Story is the first time a Halo story has focused on a civilian. Before this, we had a far fetched, fairly ridiculous, but fun, storyline. Master Chief prancing around the galaxy with his alien buddies visiting ancient alien ruins and saving the universe. ODST confirms that this is all happening in our world we can recognise. The gameplay however is ridiculous. It also breaks immersion. An ODST, supposedly a vulnerable soldier, can beat down 9 foot tall brutes in 4-6 melees. They can also take a shot from a beam rifle to the chest, but turn out all right because their stamina recovered. And the fact they can leap right over a car. The environment and story were deep, realistic and immersive, but the gameplay breaks this.

Different, fresh, and it gave a different feel (which is ironic because it uses the H3 engine). I like the more varied environments and broader range of situations and mission variety. I didn't find it to be too insanely short, though I would've welcomed any extra missions.
-
I admire nearly every aspect of this game. I just got me some awesome headphones so I'm going to run through the Campaign sometime soon :)
-
Yes, the campaign is excellent. I have been playing through it again over the last few days. [Edited on 08.26.2012 3:17 PM PDT]

The campaign is incredible and different than every other halo.
-
I played it alone once, then played it with my brother, then I played with all my friends. I played through it 3 times, and I still love the game, amazing story, and a nice dark environment. :)

It was really good! The only thing I didn't like is how there were almost no references to the other Halo Universe characters. Aside from that, Halo 3: ODST is my second favorite Campaign, right after Halo 2.
-
Yes, I love Halo 3: ODST. As a matter of fact I'm doing a run-through with my girlfriend on it who also loves it. The whole stealth thing was a bit of an issue as you could still easily be detected even when picking off stragglers but the fact that you play as more than one character (which is a first to happen in any Halo FPS game) was excellent. The mystery surrounding what happened to your squad mates was also very good as you didn't know what would happen to them in the end, whether they would live or die or most of them would die.

In every Halo game to date a Spartan would die in one headshot to a sniper. One. Exactly one. No more, no less. Certainly not less. But in ODST, inexplicably, they die in TWO. You can tell they have literally no idea what they're doing with this health/stamina system when an ODST can take more HEADSHOTS from a SNIPER RIFLE than Master Chief can. I mean lord, it needs to go right between their eyes and out the back of their head...twice? And lord, you can take multiple headshots from MANY weapons. Look at their helmets. Look at the design. Do you really think they could suffer more than one headshot from any covenant weapon would be resisted by that thing for more than a couple shots? The health system was absurd. There was NO immersion. The gameplay was unrealistic, unbalanced, and boring. Ewhh. [Edited on 08.23.2012 4:01 PM PDT]

Also, Sadie's Story is one of the best things to happen to the Halo universe, I was really drawn into it. The artwork was stunning, the voice acting was brilliant and the structure being derived from Dante's Divine Comedy really gave the storytelling a level of sophistication unseen in the other Halos.

I love the campaign of ODST, it was different, and creative.
