I loved the story in District 9.
Am I the only one who thinks this needs to happen?

I don't want a sequel. The ending tied up the plot nicely. I feel that to create a sequel would be an unessecary action. When you get down to it, the movie was mostly about human-alien relations. After the revelations at the end of the first movie when the illegal experiments are revealed I don't know how it would proceed. If Christopher did return and they did a first contact style of movie it could work brilliantly or feel like c-span with aliens.

I really liked the movie. I honestly think it should remain how it is. It's implied he'll become human again in 4 years and it's good that way.

Nah, I prefer the way it ended. You have to decide for yourself of Christopher's view on Humans changed with Wikus and returned or not (and if so, with an army or a cure?). I like movies and stories like that, keeps you thinking about it. I wonder...what would the Halo movie have been like had D9 not been made. [Edited on 05.23.2012 5:28 PM PDT]
Posted by: jjboy84
Posted by: mojeda101 It reminded me of Halo SO MUCH. I don't know what it was, but Christopher reminded me of the Arbiter.
Because the guy who directed was the guy directing the halo movie before it got cancelled.
I heard it was supposed to be the Halo movie but got cancelled or something. Also pay attention to the weapons used in the final battle. Look familiar?

Like really, what would happen?
The prawns come back and fall into orbit around Earth, and all the humans are -blam!- themselves about whether they're hostile or not. It'd make for an interesting take on the alien invasion thing; focusing on the political, social and logistical side of alien contact, rather than "KILL IT WITH FIRE." Then you'd get the human-turned-prawn (I forget his name) trying to reverse his condition to bring a personal element to the movie.
Eh... it could work, but it still sounds unnecessary.
Oh yeah, it'd be a definate hit or miss movie. They'd either do it brilliantly or botch it completely.
Posted by: mojeda101 It reminded me of Halo SO MUCH. I don't know what it was, but Christopher reminded me of the Arbiter.
Weird how that happens.
Producer Peter Jackson planned to produce a film adaptation based on the Halo video-game franchise with first-time director Neill Blomkamp. Due to a lack of financing, the Halo adaptation was placed on hold. Jackson and Blomkamp discussed pursuing alternative projects and eventually chose to produce and direct, respectively, District 9
Yes you are. I didn't like District 9 that much.

That movie was bad ass.
Posted by: WinyPit82
Posted by: Scoopicus I don't see how we would have a District 9 sequel. Like really, what would happen?
Christopher said he would return.
But after that what? Would we wage war on an alien race? Would the movie just be about him? There's no really good direction the movie could go.
Posted by: Sgt Drifter Wait.. People actually liked District 9?
Yes. It was the underdog of movies when it came out, and got a lot of praise.
Posted by: Sgt Drifter Wait.. People actually liked District 9?
Of course. My favorite movie.

I enjoyed it quite a bit. I wouldn't want a sequel, though. I think it ended just nicely.
Posted by: FinnA9X
Posted by: Scoopicus I don't see how we would have a District 9 sequel. Like really, what would happen?
This can be said about most sequels that get made
Yeah, and those sequels are almost always less good than the original. Usually the good sequels are the ones that are actually necessary for storytelling.
