If you could add one thing to ODST, what would it be?

Title for reference. If you could add one thing to ODST, what would it be? ODST is a great game as it is. But, isn't there that one thing that you would have loved to see in the game? For me, it'd have to be more ODST missions. Either like Spartan Ops or part of the campaign. I love playing as an ODST and would have liked more of that in different scenarios and areas.

  • I would add lots of things: 1) a "real" drop during a battle behind the enemy lines; 2) a mission playing as normal marines; 3) a cover system like the killzone one and less stamina; 4) better marine armors, like the reach ones. Maybe 343i can do a full game with these features, but too many players want to feel like a super-soldier with super-muscles. Edit: goldeneagle, you're so -blam!- right!   • I would have definitely added a multiplayer. If Bungie needed to stray away from the Halo formula it would have been best if it were done in a spinoff like ODST.

  • Make the city mu much bigger, so you can go to the part where the skycrapers are, that would have been very fun (sorry for bad english)

  • Well one important thing I would have done with ODST is change how this game was treated. They gave ODST such little support after release. Bungie didn't defend ODST at all with all the hate it was getting, and basically conceded that it was a $60 expansion pack. And to add insult to injury, for those of us, like myself, who loved ODST..well we were just left in the dust. This game deserved some DLC. I'd say some story-related content. Think Batman: Arkham City's [i]Harley Quinn's Revenge[/i] DLC. It also deserved AT LEAST 4-5 DLC firefight maps. I will argue with anyone about how ODST firefight destroyed Reach's sad, sad version. Getting 200,000 points on every map was great fun. Did I not love some maps? Yeah, but I liked how I was forced to at least try them for the sake of achievements. And contrary to what many people wanted, I thought firefight matchmaking hurt Reach more than anything. The best part of ODST firefight was fighting with your friends. In a sense, you and your friends were soldiers fighting for your lives, rather than playing with a bunch of AFK'ers for a short, boring match. All ODST needed was support. I loved the campaign. If I wasn't so nostalgic for Halo 2 and 3, I'd probably put it at #1. Heck story wise I'd definitely have it at #1, it just couldn't compare co-op wise with the other two in my opinion. And of course firefight was an inventive game mode. I liked horde from Gears of War, but I thought this gametype fit Halo better. Bungie dropped the ball, plain and simple. In fact, I'd say right after ODST's release it was immediately downhill for them. Reach was a disaster, and honestly I think Microsoft wanted them gone. They promised after Reach that Halo 3 would still have double xp weekends for some time after, and that never materialized. They just tried to please everyone, from CoD gamer to casual, and failed miserably. Of course this is completely off topic and I apologize. I just feel ODST could have been even better, and I hate to see how it was treated. [Edited on 11.09.2012 10:26 PM PST]

  • "The Keyes escort..." Holy frickin frick. Get out of my mind, Sliding... Have been warring with myself as to the second best Halo level ever...(Two Betrayals as the best, of course...) 'Only thing that holds T&R back is Keyes "performance"...' Yikes.

But yeah, the mood of the game would have suited. Plus even a GTA style free roam multiplayer mode would have been fun.

  • If I could add one thing, more interactions with Rookie and Vergil in the story. While the audiophiles made for interesting view, and the city was great back drop, both character interacted in the gameplay more than in the story, and trust me, they needed more interaction story wise. But I'm fine with what I got. The gameplay gave the character development that was missing in the story.

When you see that Scarab roll by and the ships firing down in the distance. That was well done and much better handled than Reach. I didn't feel invaded at all in Reach. But, that's a different story.

Cons of the Oliphant escort segment: -you have to use a vehicle -you have to keep up with the Oliphant -the damn thing easily gets destroyed -[url=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cLbZITdZWs#t=4m25s]it's possible to flip it[/url] but the occupants don't exit and it teleports upright I hate it when developers try to stop players from messing around just so the game stays difficult. Despite all the tricking people did in CE and Halo 2, it was mostly ignored. Altering cutscenes... dead. Collecting AI... dead. :(

  • The regular Plasma Rifle instead of the brute variant. I don't really see why they didn't use either both or just the regular one. More control over weapons. I don't know about anyone else, but if I shoot an automatic weapon for a long period of time, the aim starts going upward unless I look down. More use of the Elephant/Olifant. It seems like every time there is a big, unique vehicle, we always have to escort it instead of actually using it. Like in Halo 2 where Johnson gets the Scarab you were going to take and you end up in a banshee giving it cover fire. I would also like to see more of either the Specter or Revenant.

  • Have there be a matchmaking where everyone goes into Mombasa in a free-roam free for all, all pitted against each other- all the meanwhile having to fight against the covenant as well.

  • When you play coop you dont loose your single player progress

  • Just had a fantastic idea, but not for the game, for maybe a sequel. Free-roam. Just that simple thought blew my mind.
