Same-sex marriage opinion?

Do you think it should be allowed, I think over 50% of Americans already support it so it probably will be legalized soon.

 • As a North Carolinian who voted (and found the other thread locked) I guess I can throw my view in here. Two things. Number one - when I went to vote, there were people handing out "Vote for this person" things right near the door. Normal behavior. However, I was approached by a seven year old kid handing out things saying "Vote for the amendment". Now, I don't care what your viewpoint is. But you shouldn't use a seven year old who doesn't even have a clue about what is going on as a little pawn in your voting scheme. Another thing I found a tad unfair is this voting was attached to the Republican primary for President. That is going to draw out a lot more voters than normal on a side that is more than likely going to vote for the Amendment. I found that a touch unfair. Personally, I think it would have been more fair to have the national Presidential primary vote on a different day and have this amendment and the local elections on this day.

 • What I do in the privacy of my own home with my girlfriend is between me and her and you have no say in our relationship. Why is it suddenly ok for you to have an opinion if she were a man?

 • I wasn't trying to sound like that, probably something was lost in translation from what I thought and the way I wrote it. Although, I completely agree with you, but I do not really have a clue about I grew up with this -blam!-ity, I am just glad there people out there that are up for same-sex marriage and all that, but I don't really know how to handle people that blindly deny these things.
Posted by: Darkness Howls
Posted by: DarkONI So some of you guys are saying that my -blam!--blam!-ity is a choice? Like, wow. You have no idea. Perhaps it's more or less a choice if you are a bi-blam!-... But that's different. I don't have a choice to what I like.
Saying "Like, wow. You have no idea." is not a convincing argument. I'm bi myself and all for same-sex marriage, but you can't expect to win over people who have been raised to frown upon such things when you have that attitude and meet blind denial with more blind denial.
[Edited on 05.09.2012 12:29 AM PDT]

 • So some of you guys are saying that my homo-blam!-ity is a choice? Like, wow. You have no idea. Perhaps it's more or less a choice if you are a bi-blam!-... But that's different. I don't have a choice to what I like, I can assure you that since I have had the time where I forced myself to try and like women since it is supposed to be 'normal' and it was bad. • It doesn't affect me at all. If it makes them happy, I don't see why they shouldn't be allowed to get married. It's not like legalizing -blam!- marriage means you have to be -blam!-, marry someone of the same sex, or even like -blam!- people. It just means they can have the same piece of paper straight married couples have. Just for everyone blaming religion, I was brought up Southern and Christian, and I have no problem with -blam!- people. Most of them are polite and funny. A few go overboard with that flamboyant stuff, but to each their own.
Again, you obviously don't know what abnormal means.
Oh it's so obvious An abnormality is something that is rare and doesn't normally occur. In this case, -blam!--blam!-ity has occurred since the existence of humanity and is therefore normal.
You pretty much confirmed what I've been saying. How many people are straight and how many are -blam!-? You'll see straight people out number -blam!- people. Why? Because being -blam!- isn't normal. Mental retardation has been around since the dawn of man? Is it normal? Were we meant to evolve that way? I don't think so.
You're saying the minority is unusual, which is a given, hence the term minority. That is not synonymous with saying -blam!--blam!-ity is not a normal, reoccurring thing throughout our history. The same goes for mental retardation. Considering your other fascist post I'm done with you. [Edited on 05.09.2012 12:15 AM PDT]

 •
Posted by: Owl of Wisdom
Posted by: Gulltralisk
Posted by: Owl of Wisdom Not necessarily. The abnormality has to be quite serious. People with really bad diseases like sickle cell, AIDS, etc should have some rights taken. People who are born mentally unstable should also have a few rights stripped away.
That's still denying rights to people who are afflicted with things that they can't necessarily control. People with muscular dystrophy are still capable of being perfectly productive and helpful citizens, despite their very severe movement impairment. Stephen Hawking can't even vocalize or move around properly without artificial enhancement, and he's one of the greatest scientific minds alive. Are you saying we should deny rights to them?
It really depends. I'm not saying they won't have freedom.
Okay? That's still denying them rights that others have entirely because of something out of their control.
Also, I should end this now. I have an AP calculus test in the morning. Thanks for the discussion everyone.
Yeah, that's a good idea. My performance on my AP Comp Sci exam this morning took a hit because I didn't sleep enough last night.
