Why did they give out Recon for free ?

ahhhh the vidmasters what fun the were why couldnt they put some type vidmaster challenges on reach well hopefully they will be brought back in halo 4

After a while everything becomes less of an issue, such as Recon. They did it to make everyone happy but it shouldn't take away your desire to complete the Vidmasters!

I don't have any problems with the button. It's a nice reason to draw a few players back to Halo 3. Plus, the path to unlocking Recon gave ODST new life and made the game an extremely memorable one!

Because the button to unlock it is linked to this site, after the transition Recon would no longer be available for anyone to unlock so 343i gave it to everyone. It was either that or nobody gets it ever again.
