I'm having second thoughts on majoring in physics!
So I am extremely fascinated with space and the universe and etc.but i've been looking up some physics problems online and I literally have no clue where to start?
Currently im in an algebra 2 class in my local junior college, my degree plan will train me for physics right? It's not like they are just going to throw me into a class and put physics problems in front of my face right?

The very first classes you take in physics will be [url=http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Classical_physics]Classical Mechanics and Classical E&M (Electricity and Magnetism)[/url]. This is typically taught in high school as well and if you take and score well in the AP courses, you'll have credit that puts you ahead when you get to college. In addition you're also expected to be good at calculus because that's what a lot of physics is, so idk what grade you're in but Algebra 2 isn't gonna be enough. If you want to take a look at an [url=http://sb.cc.stonybrook.edu/bulletin/current/academicprograms/phy/degreesandrequirements.php]example curriculum[/url], you can see that you are expected to take Calc I, II, and III (multivariable) by the end of it. It doesn't matter whether or not you had no clue how to start. What matters is that you wanted to work it out :) They'll teach you how, you just have to provide the desire.

Uhm...you're going to need a very good understanding of calculus to major in physics. If you get calculus, you'll probably be fine in physics. But you will have to work hard. If you end up being really bad at calculus, don't major in physics.

Just do whatever you're interested in. It's pointless to study something that you do not enjoy- knowledge can never be forced. If you find it difficult, then study harder!

Yeah...I'm taking a grade 11 Physics course right now. They tell you straight up what it is so you actually know what you will study post-secondary.

Algebra 2? You need to be better at math to do physics. If you don't, you'll get lost fast.

You'll take math up to calc 1 before you do physics. Then physics courses start.

I'm confused about you being in Algebra II in a community college... I took that in ninth grade, so does community college do a review course or what's going on here?

Eh, you're young I assume, correct? No time to rush. Take it easy, study hard, and if it's what you really want, pursue it. If not, drop out. I mean. . Switch majors?
