-
I hope when making Halo:Reach you guys put all the original maps from halo 3 and the mythic ones as well in reach, because a lot of gamers would miss the maps and weapons etc..
-
it think it would be cool if they made the first version of sandtrap for the human vs alien game in halo reach humans spawn in base first then the next round the elites do
-
Nice I didn't know all this thought went into sandtrap. [Edited on 03.12.2010 4:15 PM PST]

I honestly think those maps are horrible. Both of them, there are only a couple of good maps in halo 3 The Pit and Guardian. I really hope they step up their game for halo reach.
-
Stunning! I can't wait to see the kind of Reach Artwork people create out of that wallpaper! : )
Posted by: CairoCat That beachhead invasion would have been SO -blam!- FUN!!!! I have expectations for Reach now.
I want that, it looks like a hell of a lot of fun will come out of it.

One can only imagine the magic going on with Reach's development. I'm assuming we're going to have more than 1 gigantic map this time around. Halo Reach is going to play much different with new power ups, load outs, and vehicles. Lets get a map as big or bigger than Sandtrap "beta" in it alright Bungie ;)
-
I hate Sandpoop, it was cool to see how it came to be.
-
I hope they somewhat revive the early concept of the map for reach, because with camo, sprint, jetpacks, sprint, etc. it may work much better now. There's also the fact that this is way in the past, meaning it would be much less buried under sand.
-
Awesome interview... one of the most interesting I have read in a while. I love big maps and big games. Sandtrap doesn't do it for everyone, but it's a heck of a lot of fun with the right objective and the right people. Hopefully we'll see more large sandy levels in Reach :-)
-
Sandtrap is a great BTB map.The early concept of Sandtrap looked really good.Wish it would have kept that LARGER SCALE!! But why has Bungie brought up the 'Secret of Sandtrap'?!?!? Seems to me like the crazy folks at Bungie are working on something BIG, in regards to a new "Upgraded Sandtrap" map...Why else would they bring it up? And with all the different references of how Halo:Reach is BIGGER and BETTER in every way... I want to see the EPIC SCALE map they have digging up!!!
-
Cool map, bro. Nah, but seriously, it's great that he got to do both versions of his "Sandy" maps in Halo 3 with both Sandtrap and Sandbox. The early Sandtrap build looked way too small and Banshee-friendly, anyway. Nice work. =)
-
Hey Urk, it's pretty cool seeing these multiplayer maps and all, but is it possible you could do a Post Mortem for a Campaign Mission? I don't think I've ever seen you guys describe the steps that go into designing a campaign mission, and it would be cool if you took a level like Tsalvo Highway or The Covenant and described how that level changed over the development process and such with sketches. Would be cool if it is doable.
-
God I hope Reach is going to be as amazing as it looks so far. xD
-
Very nice Interview and very nice Screenshot.
-
Awesome, these map things are the best. Some explanation of how the elephant worked its way onto the map from a design perspective would have been cool.
-
On a related note I wonder if they will pursue the multi-stage or objective style maps for Halo: Reach. I.e., activating an object might open a whole new area. Might be really interesting and different for a Halo game.
-
I absolutely love these breakdowns of maps and different levels. It really is fascinating seeing what kind of work and thought processes are behind some of our favorite maps. So cool seeing Sandtrap in its beginning stages. Definitely gives you perspective on something you take for granted is going to be included in the game.
Posted by: Hylebos ...But no mention of the Elephant?
Nope, and I am a bit disappointed by that. Oh well, it was a really cool read. I can't wait for the next one.
Posted by: TES Christian :( This was good in all but I think that the community needs to know about the secret of Sandtrap before the release of Halo: Reach...
Yea, I agree, but they did leave a clue. About the text being translated and that it has something to to with Epitaph as well. ~ that is if there telling the truth or just messing with our heads and laughing about it [Edited on 03.11.2010 7:22 PM PST]

Looks great can't wait to play reach!
