Doom 3 and and Id can go to ****
So I have been waiting, and waiting for Doom 3 to come down to $29.99 at Best Buy, Ive been playing Painkiller and the Battle out of Hell expanstion in the mean time, I go in today and *poof* their it was $29.99, I snatch it up, along with a new Razorback mouse, and rush home right after work,, install it, set all the options (including allowing it select the the best settings based on my hardware (ultra high)) and I restart my PC, and Im all set, lets blast some demons right?.................. F no, after the load bar fills, it crashes to my desktop, tried it a couple times and nota, Son of a -blam!-! so I google " Doom 3 crashes to desktop after loadin" thinking I cant be the only one, was I right or what! tons and tons and tons of posts and complaints about it crashing either upon loading or durring play, how in the hell does Id take 3 years to make a game (which has yet to post a great review, to repetative ect...) that has more bugs than the movies Ants™ and A bugs life™ combined?
I have found that their is a patch avail, 18 mfn MB's, Im on a Dial-up!!!! that is lucky to get 4kb per second!!!!! what a load of S, I am so taking this POS back and continuing on with Painkiller. A BEAUTIFUL GAME THAT ACTUALLY WORKS!!!!!!!!!!!!
F Id, F Doom 1,2,final, and 3!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DooM 3 wasn't scary at all. I think I've been pretty much desensitized (sp?) to violence, probably because I saw Saving Private Ryan when I was ten. I agree Half Life 2 is much better, that game did scare me. On Ravenholm, when those shreaking zombies that jumped the buildings came, I got chills and my blood ran cold. I didn't want to walk out the door (in the game) I was so scared.

Half-Life 2 is a far better game then Doom 3.

If your comp. is powerful enough, forget Doom 3 and get Half Life 2. The graphics, physics, and gameplay is MUCH better. Also, Doom 3 really did not scare me all to much. In my opinion, the Ravenholm level of HL2 was creepier than any level of Doom 3; the ambiance and wierd sounds freaked me out, but thats why I kept playing it. [Edited on 8/19/2005]

Though i do agree doom 3 is a good game, I'd recomend you sell it, and wait for FEAR to come out. It's scarier, got better graphics, and has bullet time. Who doesn't want the -blam!- scared at of them in slow motion? actually, that game comes out in 2 months so i'd sell it and get bf2 to play while you're waiting. [Edited on 8/19/2005]

keep doom 3. best part is when the lights are completely off and the only thing u can see is in the cone of the flashlight. its awesome when u get into hallway with the guy with the chainsaw and all the other stuuf. KEEP DOOM 3 IT REALLY IS AN AWESOME GAME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

to answer the "what loser has a badass PC on dial up?". I live in the country. But they are suppose to be comming to install my WDSL today, we will see. and F doom Ill just keep playing Painkiller. its a better game anyhow

You know right as Doom 3 came out, so did a HP computer designed to run Doom3 properly. That's the computer I'm using right now. It even says on the box, "Designed to play Doom3!" See, id knew about the computer crashes and paid HP to make a computer to run it. Cuz I had aboslutely no problems playing Doom3 on my computer, and playing that game a 1:30 AM still gives me the creeps

I love my copy of Doom3 for my PC. There are a couple of simple ways to stop crash's like the one you experienced but because your on dial-up it gets a bit harder so i'll deal with the exclusivly non dl fixes. First turn the settings down i don't give a flying -blam!- if it says you can have your settings up high lets get the game running before we get it looking pretty. Second buy this month's issue of pc gamer and on the disc should be the latest drivers for your brand of graphics card. Old or factory drivers are one of the main causes of game crashes especially with high end gpu intensive games. I have both versions and i can say that the xbox version just about steals it because of the co-op. I remember playing with my friend late at night when that big dog thing attacks us i jump over some railings so it cant get me but he gets stuck and panic's he forgets to equip a weapon and ends up battering it to death with his torch while screaming -blam!- off -blam!- off at the top of his lungs now that was priceless. I'am not sure as to why you have a kick ass pc if your still on dial-up. [Edited on 8/18/2005]

Doom 3 for the Xbox is in my opinion better than having to deal with crashes. It's a really great game that gets under your skin. And seriously, I have never played Doom before, and when I did it was a Satanic experience. I couldn't sleep and had nightmares where the pentagram would pop up continiously. I was so creeped out. I only had that game for 4 days. Then I traded the game. But it was so addicting though. I really liked it a lot. It was just too weird and scary for me. Then when you get to the Hell levels and the skull comes out on the loading screen. That thing was so freaking weird, I couldn't look at it when it was loading. I dont know about you guys but it was just too demonic for me.

Step 1: Get broadband.What kind of loser still has dial-up? Step 2: Get Doom 3 for the Xbox. And if you can afford a PC that should be able to run Doom 3 at ultra high, don't tell us "I can't afford it". Or you could just be patient and download the frickin' patch. [Edited on 8/17/2005]
