Every time Microsoft releases free things for a limited time I miss out becaused I am deployed to the middle east. Why can't these things remain for us gold members? Happens all the time for those serving their country, Microsoft wake up and keep these things on the marketplace for more than se7en days. Please!

a little? I'm outraged that they only had the theme availiable for 7 days, i wasnt on b-net for seven days after getting ODST cuz i was too busy playing ODST.

There WERE two themes as I suspected. The one that is 240 MS points is the "ODST premium theme". It was available since June 2009. This theme adds a new background and shows the different ODST characters standing behind your friends avatars when you look at your friends list in dashboard. The free one that is no longer available was the "ODST: Prepare to Drop premium theme". It was available for about a week in September 2009. That theme also gave you a new background and shows the different Covenant enemies standing behind your friends avatars when you look at your friends list in dashboard.

a background thats only free for like 3 days... at the day of the launch i saw it on the marketplace and it wasnt free then on the 30. 8 days later i saw this thread... when i first saw it i realised it costs 240 mp so i had no reason to go looking for it again wich is why i still use the default halo background :( if i were Bungie i would go down to (wherever microsoft has their offices) and convince them somehow to make it free at least for another 7 days, i mean most people dont have ODST yet so they havent experienced the game and become hooked on it, and i dont know many guys who look for backgrounds and stuff from games that they havent played. ( just my opinion )

The offer was only working for the the week starting just before the ODST launch. Quite honestly though, downloadable content is a rip off. Especially the premium theme's, all they are doing is reskinning the poor excuse for a layout that they created. We can't all blame Microsoft, although they do tend to bite the wallet quite a lot. After all, ODST belongs to Bungie. Bungie is still advertising that this theme is free. Bungie holds the responsibility to make it so, for as long is it advertised on their site as such. OR DOES BUNGIE LIKE MISLEADING THE PUBLIC?????

Well of course guys, microsoft can't have something on the internet free for so long, they might die from loss of profits, although for some reason they still have it on the website, but stupid have to be 18 years or older thing comes up. It's a dang background, it's not like it's gonna make us do drugs.

The theme I downloaded yesterday cost 200 points to my surprise. Plus, its different than the one I saw earlier. Instead of Brutes, Chieftans, Grunts, etc. behind your friends on your friends list, I have different ODSTs. Are there two ODST themes? [Edited on 09.29.2009 9:19 AM PDT]

I am very very pleased with Bungie overall. I hate that companies charge for this kind of stuff. I am sure that Microsoft has a hand in forcing a charge upon people, but still, I think it is kind of shady to charge 4-5 bucks for a theme. Personally, I would really rather just see this stuff come with the game. Like the theme comes with the game and then you can get that Avatar crap when you beat the game or something like that where you have to play the game for it instead of just out and out buying it.
