PS3 Unvieled!
Specs:
- Cell Processor 3.2 GHz running at 2 teraflops (Owns Xbox 360)
- 256MB XDR main RAM at 3.2GHz, and it will have 256MB of GDDR VRAM at 700MHz. (As good as Xbox 360)
- Graphics, RSX Reality Synthesizer made by NVidea GPU will be capable of 128bit pixel precision, 1080p resolution, some of the highest HD resolution around. The RSX also has 512MB of graphics render memory and is capable of 100 billion shader operations and 51 billion dot products per second. It also has more than 300 million transistors, larger than any processor commercially available today. It will be manufactured using the 90nm process, with eight layers of metal. The RSX is more powerful than two GeForce 6800 Ultra video cards, which would cost roughly $1,000 total if purchased today. (Owns Xbox 360)
- The PlayStation 3 will also sport some hefty multimedia features, such as video chat, Internet access, digital photo viewing, and digital audio and video
- Has Wireless controllers
I think the Xbox 360 had awesome specs too, but PS3 has overdone themselves. But I have a feeling that PS3 will lose money because their production cost is too high, and Xbox 360 will have a lower price, and better games (Halo 3). Which will want Sony to have PS3 at a low price, causing them to loose a lot of money, like the Xbox did in the beginning. So over all Xbox 360 will win.
If you didn't wanna read all that, my point is PS3 has a better console, but Xbox 360 will have better games, and the PS3 will loose a lot because their production cost will not cover their profit costs.

true, but if Specs is all you have judge from that right? Anyway, I think they put 7 controller ports because the PS3 has the power to hook up to 2 tv's but who the hell has 2 tv's in one room? Com'on THINK SONY THINK!

Again, I'm not making a final decision on what I'm getting until I've seen the finished consoles and their performance. The E3 demonstrations could have been scripted. As was said before, raw specs mean nothing, it's how it all meshes together.

I'm probably still going for the Xbox. The ps3's controllers look like a long silver turd that was too big to flush down the crapper so it folded in on itself. The xbox's controllers look better. I could never get used to the ps3 or even the ps2 ones Wait...7 controller ports? Not only is that uneven, but just imagine splitscreen! Call me ignorant if I'm wrong, but Playstation's generally have more kid-oriented games. The ones that look like cartoons. And they have more kid-oriented titles, like sesame street alphabet and that rapper one. It may have two teraflops, but my Xbox still sayst 50,000+, I have no idea what I'll do with one teraflop. And you can also hook a 360 up to the computer, thats a plus for me

and it's gonna have 7 controller ports...ahh, stupid stupid sony. Why in the hell would you have 7 controller ports! Thats uneven! Meaning one guy will always have the bigger screen in a game. 8 would have made sense, but seven. Wow, thats just messed up.

What a messed up controller. You would need LOOONG hands to operate that. Yep. Consoles are trying to b better, but nothing has been done to make the consoles more homey or more comfortable. I like the new features. They are just too overwhelming

PS3 is an online machine.Sony saw the succses of xbox live and thought we could do that. Microsoft is in trouble if sony get it right this time round i wasnt that impressed with ps2 but it still outsold xbox almost 5 to 1 round the world because everyone and his dog knows what a playstation is,and the masses associate sony with cool things like the walkman and expensive tv's dvd players, where microsoft is known for making buggy operating systems and unfairly using its size and power to put compeitors out of business(rebel get firefox!). Microsoft does not have a cool factor in the world at large. Sony is also a large greedy corperation but dont have the same negative image that microsoft has. But they have never got close to a monopoly in any area of their business. Apart from maybe the odd mac user do you know anyone who uses a non windows operating system? Standardisation is good in some respects but a monopoly is not good for the consumer. It may sell in the states cause its an american product and americans like to spend their money patrioticaly(bet sony at least matches it though), but that will not cut the mustard in europe(sonys biggest market) or japan and without really cracking those markets xbox 360 will continue the trend of microsoft losing money to stay in the console game. Microsoft is a big rich company but they can only continue losing money for so long.

PS3....whee. Sorry, but Sony lost my loyalty when they came out with the PS2. Yes yes very cool that it stood upright. Yes very cool it played DVD's. But it only had two original controller ports. And don't even bother going into their online system! It just seemed to be aimed more at single player games. Xbox was incredibly more efficient as a MP console, both with longer cords for controllers, easy internet hookup, seamless XBL...etc etc. Hope they can capitalise on the previous success of XBL...

You mean PS3. I have a feeling Xbox's online play will overpower Playstation 3s, but as for hardware Playstation 3 royally whoops the ass of the 360. Even though I am getting both. nVidia should have never been lost.

It'd be hugely ironic if Xbox lost round two as well. It would be somewhat satisfying to see the corporate shark, Bill Gates, to lose to his ambitions.

EXACTLY what was said about the PS2 and Xbox. And now, the Xbox is a better machine and it's games at the end of the cycle are better. Watching the KillZone 2 vid and Killing Day and MotorStorm and GT5. Jeebus. The PS2 may have some killer launch titles.
