Are the moderators more tolerant of the misbehavior of highly ranked member
So, i have recently come out of hiding. Mainly, due to boredom. I have not posted terribly much. However, a friend of mine mentioned me today that I should be banned because he thinks that all of my posts since my re-emergence border on spam. However, he thinks that the reason I have [i]not[/i] been banned is because of my Mythic status.
Now, as I've not come to the forums for quite a long time(to me), I have no idea if this seems to be a plausible, prevalent phenomenon.
What do you think?

Ya'll worry to much about what you are going to get and what you are getting. Other people get better treated different all the time, this place is probably going to be - or is - no different. If you act like a jerk, you're going to get treated like one, and trust me this place has a long memory.

Mythic members do stupid -blam!- all the time, you don't notice it because John Q. Forum is too busy gushing over the blue bar.

Its not very often that *for argument sake we will use a mythic member* a mythic member would act out on the forum and do something against the rules. So on the odd change that one would act out or make a mistake I'm sure the mods would be more willing to forgive them.

LOL I'm a little stressed about messing up and getting banned. My bro StarAmerica already did, for wueva reason... Still, *I'm used to forums, being a regular at Motor Trend forums. Except you guys are just a tad stricter.

Of course some people call it elitism (there's that word again...), but again, it's all based on perspective.

Of course there bias to the blue ppl. But they will ban them when needed, so therefore I won't lose any sleep over this issue.

I still at times get ignored even with my Mythic status, of course that's usually because I'm posting in The Flood or because the other users are busy replying to other users in that thread or they just don't want to. From my experience the only users that constantly get quoted because of their status are Bungie employees which is annoying to see because it's usually off topic posts like "quoted because it's Bungie employee" and countless others follow it causing the topic to get further derailed. I personally hate the fact that I will go into a thread, post a 6 paragraph explanation, and be completely ignored. A Mythic member might come in, say 3 words, and Everyone will start quoting him like crazy. I have been a bad boy (banned twice :P) But I just keep posting, contributing, getting ignored most of the time, But enjoying the experience of the forums. Posting On the forums is a privilege. Not a right. I am thankful that we have the forums for help, opinions, and more. But If you come in acting bad, rude, crude you will have your privilege removed. Goatse? That's a pretty extreme example, though, BobBQ. I mean, we wouldn't see Achronos again, if he linked to that. I mean, yeah... I first saw that ages ago, and I still have nightmares. Say, as a less extreme example, if a mythic member rickrolled a thread, or started trolling, they'd be blacklisted, whereas, if they were cranky and said something mean, they'd be given more chances than a normal member, right? I'm interested in this new ranking idea, though, Achronos. When you talk about stuff you could achieve in Halo 3, that would be obvious, does that mean a system similar to what we have on the wheelmen group? Say, as an example, someone gets 3000 combined ranked and social wheelmen medals, they get a Wheelmen rank? Or did you mean something else altogether? [Edited on 04.04.2009 8:39 AM PDT]

Most Mythic and Legendary members have shown and proven that they are aware and can follow the rules. Though they are sometimes given more leeway, I'm sure the moderators and admins still keep in mind that some of them are border line to breaking rules and some can be flat out rude. Just follow the rules, if you think something you are doing is against those set rules, just don't do it.

It depends really, I would assume mythics could get away with something that borders spam and get slightly more tolerance to say...me because they are more likely to understand a warning. If the infraction was serious however I think they would get more severe punishment because they should know the rules by now, for say obvious trolling. I doubt the differences in treatment are significant however.

I know the community is totally different. Leaps and bounds different. But, I used to mod for the boards for a pretty popular Counter-Strike server, as well as THE most popular Day of Defeat custom maps server (seems like another lifetime) and although you wouldn't know it from my attitude here I was quite the stickler for following the rules, and being as polite as possible, etc etc. And if I saw someone break any of our posted rules, they got smacked with a ban, no questions asked. However, members I knew personally, or members who I know had been a part of the community longer, I was more willing to let things slide and just kinda look the other direction. Like I said before, totally different community types but my reasoning behind my attitude was thus.. What good does it do to remove someone from the community who is such a big part of it? Other than the banned themselves, generally nobody cares if you remove someone with like 2 posts, both of which are spam. But someone with a proven track record and is a staple of the community, even if they do tend to bend or even break the rules, will be missed. It's like when the most popular character on a TV show gets killed off or replaced because they got caught drunk driving, or giving -blam!- favors in restaurant bathrooms. You know they did something wrong, and they deserve to be punished but is the show any better off for it? Usually not, usually you just quit watching. Huge unorganized wall of text is huge and unorganized. But those are my 2 cents, for what they're worth. About 1 cent I would assume.

I have been banned 1 time, and I was a legendary member at the time. I posted something like, lol, or someother, w very short, useless response. Foman had no problem banning the entire thread :P... no matter the member status. He did manage to call it a gem, and add a link of an explosion vid on youtube, saying This thread nuked courtesy of Foman. Though I was sad I got banned, I rather enjoyed the way he did it lol. But back on subject, member status saves you in no way.

Well, I was Mythic for a while, then the Flood consumed me. Now I'm just an ancient member. So no, Mythics don't get super-special treatment.

Well, I can assure you Duardo isn't baised in the least.. there was a "Do/Did you pee in the shower?" Flood thread, and after it became a Hot Topic he banned everyone who posted in it, and there was a legendary member or two in there along with a Mythic member. This included me, being Heroic, along with a few others. Why? Because he considered it spam. If that's what he considers spam, I have no idea what he calls half the crap in the Halo 3 forum. Back on topic.. The majority of Mods are baised I think, and it's understandable. People who clearly know the rules can band them a little.. they've earned their rights. I'd be biased too if I had the priveledge.
