As you've probably noticed, there is no longer a link to download screenshots to Halo 3 in the files section. I wrote a greasemonkey script that adds the link back onto the "more details" page for the screenshot that you wish to download.
This script uses the javascript that Bungie has embedded on fileshare items that have the option to download. I copied it over to the screenshot page and it works fine. It therefore operates exactly the same as Bungie's link on the content items which have the download link on them by default.
In case my description isn't sufficient, here are a few pictures showing the script in action:

The script is available here.

Greasemonkey (available here or here) is an add on for Mozilla Firefox which allows you to install java based scripts that alter websites. To run this script you must be using Firefox with the Greasemonkey script enabled, or using the Opera browser.
If you are using Firefox with Greasemonkey, you can install the script by simply clicking the link above.
For an Opera installation, follow these instructions written by CAVX:
Here is a helpful walkthrough.
Step 1: Save the script to Desktop
Step 2: Navigate to Bungie.net in the Opera browser
Step 3: Right Click anywhere on the page, and choose "Edit Site Preferences"
Step 4: Click on the "Scripting" tab
Step 5: Below "User Javascript Files," you can click "choose" and locate the file you just saved.
Step 6: If the prompt does not allow you to search through your desktop and you don't know how to reference the location yourself, move the screenshotdownloadtool.user.js file to another folder, such as your Documents folder.
Step 7: Click "OK" to close the "Site preferences" window.
Step 8: Go look at a Screenshot page

Posted by: stosh You guys really like to download screenshots to your xbox? We didn't think it was that popular...Why do you do this?
I don't downlod pics, but i want people to download mine...
-
i love this script!
-
eh, I never used it and always felt it was pointless... once made a topic asking why people actually download screenshots... nobody gave a direct answer
-
I have to say that I really don't use it that much, but, now that I can see many of the most awesome pictures that have ever been made, this feature was one of the first things that I began to miss. "Please, I am begging you. I'm on my knees in a 900$ suit !", put the link back in. : ( Quote from Liar Liar.

It would be cool if that feature could be brought back... or can it?
Posted by: stosh You guys really like to download screenshots to your xbox? We didn't think it was that popular...Why do you do this?
You kidding? Now I have to Download content to my fileshare, download the content that is on my file share, and remove it from my file share just so I have it on my Harddrive. That REALLY annoyed me when that link was taken out. -Also, why [u]weren't we allowed to download recent screenshots to our Xbox? I had many a good screenshot that I accidentally/purposely deleted that I wanted to retrieve off B.net.
-
I'll download it just to see. If I like then I'll keep.
Posted by: DHEagles fan123 Why can't you simply hit "Copy to my fileshare"
Suppose people don't have space in their fileshare, don't feel like putting that in there, or simply are lazy like me and don't do crap the whole day.

Why can't you simply hit "Copy to my fileshare"

Super epic thanks so much!!! TASTE THE RAINBOW
Posted by: stosh You guys really like to download screenshots to your xbox? We didn't think it was that popular...Why do you do this?

Posted by: stosh How often did you actually download screenshots to your xbox? I really want to know. It just doesn't make sense.
I was wondering this myself until I came upon an issue where the old system would have been very beneficial for me in this particular case. I want to throw up a couple screenshots from a couple different users into my fileshare but I can't because they are only recent screenshots and they aren't able to be added to my fileshare manually through B.net If the old system was still in effect I would have just simply downloaded the screenshot to my xbox and loaded it to my fileshare that way.

Great scripting feat, but I certainly never feel the need to download screenshots to my 360. I look at it as wasted space, as there's not much you can do with the screenshots on the 360, apart from look at them and feel the urge to make the good ones your wallpaper for your computer's desktop.
Posted by: stosh You guys really like to download screenshots to your xbox? We didn't think it was that popular...Why do you do this?
Lets say i have a screenshot I took quite a while ago, and have it in my service record, but have long since cleared my xbox to make room for new screenshots. I have no way of getting that screenshot back on my file share without a copy to fileshare or download to halo 3 button.
Posted by: stosh You guys really like to download screenshots to your xbox? We didn't think it was that popular...Why do you do this?
well..i like to show my friends some cool pictures i found...i can just remove some other picture..and upload the one i found..plus..i can now download 8 screenshots...so my fileshare gets a daily update with new pics..

Yay Skittles, you got it to work!
Posted by: stosh You guys really like to download screenshots to your xbox? We didn't think it was that popular...Why do you do this?
I don't. I wrote this after seeing all the people complaining in the thread about the new fileshare system. I generally never download screenshots to my 360. Not even from the 360... When I get a screenshot recommended to me I come see it on here. That way, I can judge by the preview image whether it's worth giving them a download or not. =]
Posted by: stosh You guys really like to download screenshots to your xbox? We didn't think it was that popular...Why do you do this?
Ever seen a high-def Halo 3 picture on a big screen? It's awesome... That's why we download explosive pics and look at the pretty colors on that big screen. *starts stupid thing* Ohh, pretty colors!

I myself, rarely use the download feature for screenshots, but I still like to have the option when the rare occurrence of myself wanting to download a screenshot appears. There was also some users earlier who were asking about this, and I couldn't really give them much of an answer.
Posted by: YahwehFreak4evr I'm pretty stupid when it comes to things like this, but can anyone give me some help on how to actually get this in Greasemonkey?
While in Firefox, click the link in my first post. This should pop up a "install script" window. After a short countdown, click install and you're done. (You may need to restart firefox to get it to show up correctly). If the install window doesn't pop up when you click the link, you will need to save the file to your desktop or other easily accessible location. Once downloaded, click and drag the file from your desktop into the firefox window. You can then delete the file on your desktop as it is no longer needed. [Edited on 10.08.2008 7:53 PM PDT]

As many of the other people have said, thanks, I'm sure this will benefit many until the actual link is officially put in.

wow the work that some people put in to have a better expeirince on bnet is really awsome
