Halo: The Thursday War ~ COVER REVEALED

Halo: The Thursday War So in it we can see some UNSC ships, the largest I'm guessing is the UNSC Infinity and the Spartan is... Osman? The planet in the background looks an awful lot like the way Sanghelios is depicted in the Halo 3 Bestiarum. Hopefully, this will be better than its predecessor. It's known that I had no love for Glasslands, but this time round it sounds like Traviss is sticking to her strengths with military sci-fi. Musings?

I never read the first book and really don't plan on getting this one. But, who knows, we'll see. Frankie said they're releasing it before Halo 4 for a reason, so it may be worth taking a look at.
You should read it, it was written by Karen Traviss, she's an excellent writer and the book isn't bad, picks up right after Ghost of Onyx and Halo 3 and it has alot of interesting twist and turns and the characters are unique as well. If that is Osman then she's decked out in some fancy Mark V armor with Mark V-B helment.
Meh, I heard from a reliable source (the OP) to not bother with it. Traviss changes a wee bit too much for my liking. But, we'll see. I could be wrong and might like it.
Yeah, like suddenly Halsey and Mendez can't stand each other, Hood is a complete idiot and ignores a painfully obvious detail that ANYBODY with half a mind can get. Oh, and ONI sides with the Elites that would attack humanity without a second blink. I mean, I got this picture post Halo 3 is humanity rebuilding, a shattered military and economy. Now I'm getting this picture that ONI has an utterly massive fleet, army, and brand new shiny prototype tech. While at the same time, Earth is in ruins and they are trying to rebuild. Conflicting messages much? Oh, and ONI literally turned into a less sneaky Cerberus.
Think about this from a psychological point of view. A woman kidnaps a lot of children and makes the parents thing they're dead, and you train them and deprive them of their childhood and life they would have had. That takes its toll on you. Hell, in First Strike, it was even taking its toll on Halsey. Keep in mind also that during Ghosts of Onyx it was essentially all fighting and very little time to talk, now that is not that case. While she did jump the shark a bit, it isn't that bad. ONI sides with the Elites so they could get into a war with the other Elites and weaken the species as a whole, making it easier to possibly destroy. This one I see your point, but keep in mind they have always been sneaky bastards, and I didn't get that impression. I got the impression of they had some stuff in reserve that just wasn't ready to be utilized fully yet/to expensive to use, keep in mind there is a little time between Glasslands and the ending of Halo 3 as well which does give a LITTLE leeway with this stuff.
