ODST is plain fantastic

Definitely the most underrated Halo game ever. I just beat ODST on legendary, not only to get a whopping 300 GS, but also to revisit the game. I have to say, I haven't had that much fun in a video game in quite a while. The story was just so great, and the characters really made playing the game an awesome experience. • ODST is a model of near-perfection in terms of campaign for the Halo series. The juxtaposition of the storyline with the flashbacks and Sadie's story is some of the best storytelling seen in a game since the first Bioshock, the story itself felt very compelling with Marty's sublime soundtrack (his magnum opus, next to Halo 2 of course) and the stunning skyboxes. There were a lot of memorable moments in it too, I absolutely loved seeing the space elevator collapsing and then going back to Halo 3 and seeing remnants of it scattered around the environment. ODST felt like a game of consequence, everything that you did was reflected somewhere else either in the game or in Halo 3 which was a very good way to link the stories. Also, Firefight was the best in ODST. Because of things like weaker melee, less health and the 'rationing' of ammunition/supplies you were made to work together as a team to take down enemies. It was a very cooperative-driven experience and proved to be incredibly rewarding when you were doing well. Unfortunately, in Reach there's no aspect of teamwork at all. People just horde the power weapons with unlimited ammo along with jetpacks to get above the enemy and rack up the points for credits, you don't even have to care about others because friendly fire isn't on and you can pretty much guarantee that they're going the same thing as you with your rocket launcher/fuel rod and jetpack... Frankly, we all said we wanted to customise our Firefight experience but when given those options... well, I can't find more than a dozen-or-so gametypes that don't say "1,000,000 CREDITS QUICK!" or some -blam!- like that. I think it was better when players were forced into submission by the iron fist of a Chieftain, then you'd take him down and say, "man, that guy was a dick!".
