I was recently reminded of the start of my gaming career, and I have given a lot of thought as to the things i have seen. Pardon my poetic-ness.
I have seen the rise of Sony.
I have seen the fall of Sega.
I have seen the castration of Nintendo.
I have seen army's rise, and empires fall.
I have seen countless heroes rise to fight the darkness,
But not every one claimed victory.
I have, like many others, have been cast aside.
Deemed less in worth than a day old bagel.
Is it any wonder as to why i reject this reality,
Why I choose to embrace the realms where i am loved, feared, hated, and even loathed.
So while you choose to live your ordinary life,
I will be going on countless adventures.
Game on friends, just never forget the past.

2 years old, my older brother gets NES for Christmas. Since then, gamer forever.

When your gaming experience is equivalent to how long you've been on this damn planet.

Edited by Zonda: 1/30/2015 1:53:59 PMPlayed a few MS DOS games ages ago. My favourite game will forever and always be those little pocket Digimon (similar to Tamagotchi) from around 1997, I do believe. Nintendo 64 has also been a part of my family since 1996. Still got it. 16-20 years.

Edited by eehotaka: 1/27/2015 4:28:52 PMLet's see... In the mid 70s there was Pong, and my grandfather had a system, can't remember what it was, but probably around 78/79 it was new. Also in the late 70's I was playing (and writing) BASIC games on TRS80's, terminals, and a Wang (it had an ABCD keyboard, not QWERTY). That spilled over a little bit through the early 80s, remember playing a maze game and a nuclear reactor simulator on an Apple. Started up again on an early Compaq (?) with a game called Starflight, this would be about '86. There was also another cartridge based computer in the house, I did some BASIC programming off it, but that had Hitchhiker's Guide and Zork (?), text based games, and a real early version of Ultima, no later than III. Mid 90s - Starflight 2, Nocturnal (PC) Yadda yadda yadda Sorry, skip some stuff. I bought a Wii, my first console, in January '12 primarily to get my Alzheimer's afflicted father-in-law, who was living with us at the time, more active. He couldn't get the controller. So I bought an Xbox with a Kinect a couple months later thinking I could get him doing that. No luck. But........ I picked up a copy of Skyrim for myself at night. That ruined me. Tl; dr - I'm too -blam!-ing old, but I don't know how long I've been a"gamer"

Edited by ArborlyMeerkat9: 1/27/2015 4:08:37 PMIf Nintendo games count like the gameboy then about 10 years. If you mean consoles like xbox and playstation then 4 years

I voted for 16 - 20 years, it's been around twenty years now. Probably why I'm growing tired of gaming. Either that or it is my lack of a PC, lack of new intersting titles or I don't know.

Nintendo's castration? They're doing good now, aren't they? I mean, I got the Wii U 2 days ago and am loving it. And tuesday I will get Mario 3D World which looks amazing.

In 1996 my dad bought me a Playstation. My birthday was in May and the ps wasn't available in Holland so he imported it from Japan. I got it with multiple games, after a year I was really into playing resident evil. But turning off the lights and playing resident evil at my age (7) gave me nightmares so he decided to toss it in the garbage. So much fun :')
