Faction Rank Rewards are not worth the effort currently.

New version of Venation III at 18 (just after TDB dropped)
In the seven rank ups since then, I've received 1 Ascendant crafting mat and 1 Crucible Commendation per rank up. That's all.
I got a rank up for both my Warlocks again last night. I find myself whispering prayers to my Gods as I walk each Warlock up to the counter to see what I got.
Pleasegimmeashaderpleasegimmeashaderpleasegimmeashader...
Main Warlock (now Rank 25): 1 Ascendant Shard, 1 DO nameplate, 1 Crucible Commendation, 1 goddamn Titan helmet...
Second Warlock (now Rank 5): 1 Ascendant Shard, 1 DO nameplate, 1 Crucible Commendation.
Bungie, DeeJ; please fix this bullshit.
I gain Faction rank by grinding out Vanguard Bounties and Weekly's and Nightfalls. To put in that much work, just to get screwed on the Rank up rewards?
Even were I a huge Crucible fan, all of the work I would have done to make it through matches and complete Crucible bounties, to get these shit-tier drops rank up after rank up?
The drop tables and percentages for the Faction loot very much needs to be reworked. The way it is, there is zero useable/desirable reward for all the effort that goes in to ranking up a Faction. To put it very simply; it's bullshit, and it's screwing us over to the point that we're questioning "why the hell do we try when we're just going to have our progress reset anyway?".
At this point, since Bungie is making weapons obsolete about every three months, all I want are the -blam!-ing shaders. Forget the goddamn weapons, Bungie.
Give.

You've already -blam!-ed over the entire rest of the game, what the hell would it hurt to give me a purely cosmetic Dead Orbit shader? Or some weapons. Or some Armor that isn't for another class? Or a ship?

I've noticed this running trend lately myself. I remember early on in the game, those packages would always have gear in them, be it class item, armor, weapons, or a potential shader. Since the addition of commendations though, it seems they always contain shards/energy, 1 commendation, and if you're insanely lucky, 1 piece of usable gear. I think I've landed maybe one or two weapons since early december, and 3 pieces of armor. It needs to stop as the reasons for continuing this endless grind are already few to begin with..

Just turned rank 25 and got Amalthea shader. The grind is ridiculous but I like my shaders. Rare enough and it means less are likely to look like my hunter.

1 ReplyI agree with the shaders, Its ridiculous to roll over rank 30 and not get a single one. The crucible commendations are useless for me since I really don't mess with the crucible.

1 ReplyI'm honestly rolling NM for weapons since they have the best ones imo. I'm ok with getting armor incase there's ever a transmog feature but the ones that are a single mat or coin are the literal worst.
