Thoughts on fusion rifles
My fellow guardians we all most likely have faced the same issue, being on a streak just to be ended from a single burst from a fusion rifle. The fusion rifle is unbalanced compared to other secondaries. although snipers and shotguns can both be overpowered they both are hindered by certain characteristics. Shotguns have high damage low range and low fire rate which will keep them from getting to overpowered. A sniper rifle has high damage low firerate and high range. but because the scope almost always zooms in enough so you can use it like a scout rifle, and the firerate can hold it back from becoming an overpowered scout rifle. Then there are fusion rifles, high damage, range, and firerate which makes them overpowered. it takes 1-2 quick burst from a fusion rifle to end anyone practically regardless of range. Many would agree with me that fusion rifles should be nerfed bungie, but there are also people who would digress and i will respect their opinion

4 Repliesi believe that shotguns/fusions are just fine, they are special weapons, yyou cant punish/nerf them for doing their job the problem is that people are able to use them as primaries, special ammo drops should be less common so that those weapons can become special again

Not a fr hater I love frs but I think they need a small nerf

I think that FRs are slightly overpowered. Maybe a small nerf will work fine. This is coming from a FR user.

They are just fine, they can end someone's streak but they are also easy to beat. People who aren't very good use them because if you can't win straight up gun battles, it gives you a chance. I have no problem with them.

1 ReplyFusion rifles absolutely do not have a "high fire rate". In fact, they fire slower than every weapon class except rocket launchers. In pvp, the fusion rifle's main weakness is it's charge rate, which is anywhere between 2 and 3 seconds. It's really easy to counter, especially with a shotgun in close. If you miss that first burst with your fusion rifle, forget about it. There is really no way to perform a fast-reaction counter fire with a fusion. If you're being shot at with it, you probably won't have time to get charge a bolt and let it go by the time you're dead. Most special weapons are "possible one hit kills" but rely on either accuracy (snipers), range (shotguns) or timing (fusions). In short, I don't think they're OP at all.

I think I died from a fusion rifle 5 times this iron banner weekend, not including the vex of course. On the other hand my fusion rifle was lighting people up. Takes good timing and a perfect shot to get the kill, otherwise you better hope the guy you missed is a noob.

Fusion Rifles are fine. You have got to keep some distance against them and keep moving. Also do not jump to high. You will always be obliterated.

They should not be complete one hit kills when I am at the point where the spread is the size of the guardian. At this point attrition should have happened and almost killed you. Shot guns kill near point blank and right fully so, but this is near point blank borderline hugging them. Fusion rifles have some real range to the point one should question a auto rifle as a choice.

Dismantle them to get pocket infinity, then dismantle that too.

There alright but when someone uses it the majority of the match... That's when sh*t hits the fan and I grab my PI and show them who is the better player!

I think that you should have to follow through with a shot instead of being able to pre charge it.

Fusion rifles have good range, but you really need to land most of the pellets or whatever they are to get that 1 hit kill. So if you die a lot to fusion rifles it usually means you're standing in one place a lot. Lateral movements will save you from a lot of fusion rifles.
