Cryptarch harder to level; same rewards
A long while back Bungie nerfed the cryptarch. They made him harder to lvl up, but claimed they increased the legendary drop rate. Anyone else notice this is bullshit, and his drops for leveling are just the same: blues all the time and a small chance of purple? Or am I just not lucky?

Edit: just a side note, and for more conversation: anyone else find of lately that majority of legendary engrams turn into ascendant materials?? Not all, but most?

Edit 3: Common thought is that the cryptarch is a piece of garbage and Bungie lied to us about the increase, or increased it an insubstantial amount for the difficulty they increased it to level him up. It'd be nice to get an official statement.
Edit 4: what would people think about removing ascendant materials as a drop from legendary engrams?? Turn it into a weapon or armor only that [i]WE[/i] decide if it should be materials or not.
Edit 5: someone brought this up: wouldn't it be nice if leveling the Cryptarch up meant he would sell better engrams?? Or turning in engrams had better chances of becoming a higher quality?? Why [i]wouldn't[/i] he do stuff like that?? He levels up already, make a point to it!
Edit 6: A response or acknowledgement from DEEJ or Bungie would be nice. Look, we won't be angry if you just address it, say you forgot or that over time the code didn't do what it was supposed to do, or that the increase was not high enough to warrant a 50% increase to leveling him up. We'd be happy if you fixed this, or changed it. Thank you.

4 RepliesVery rarely get legendary drops from ranking. Although cant complain coz one gave me Ghallarhorn at lvl 51. Yes, the tool cryptarch gave me the gally!!!

I get legendary engrams and contemplate dismantling them because I'm getting materials or something that isn't worth sh!t. I'd like to see the gunsmith, etc actually be beneficial instead of just taking up space in the tower. OR like with factions you get a shader at certain levels so you know what your working for, not oh wait I'm lvl 36 dead orbit and have received 1 shader. Maybe a shader at 10, 20, 30 etc more common shader at the bottom more rare at the higher rank just to show who has dedicated to that faction. Give people something to work towards that'll keep them playing.

Before the patch, I tended to get legendary engrams or tonnes of blues each rank-up. Since the patch, I've gotten exactly two blues, EVERY SINGLE TIME.

Not just the cryptarch, NONE of the vendors level up with you, or in any reasonable manner.

When I level my Cryptarch I get fair drops. Sometimes legendary engrams. Shards. Coins. Fairly good stuff.

Crypt arch was better before the engram patch people bitching make so much stuff worse in this game. Ya you could get blue crap from purple engrams but you got exotics so much easier from them too now engrams just all around suck.

The amount of times I get two blue engrams is astounding... Probably sitting at a 15% Legendary rate since the patch to make it "better".

I think they should make something where you can trade him 5 purples for a exotic engram. That would be cool.

Its not the cryptarch that is broken, it's the RNG, if there is one thing that bungie shod fix before the lacking story, or the cheeses, is the RNG.

1 ReplyAll I want form the cryptarch are the rare level shaders that I'm still missing: God of war, substance 321, arctic proxy, and frostfire. Hell, I've still never received a thunder devil from him. I had to buy it from the emblem/shader lady.

Yeah I haven't gotten a purple engram from the cryptarch in about a month and I level him up at least 4 times a week.

2 RepliesOn nightfall I was rewarded 2 special weapon engrams!! Was so stoked...went to tower to turn in....both engrams..not joking...turned into energies. That's the type of stuff that is uncalled for. Cannot tell you the last time I've been rewarded decently. I've seen thunder lord drop twice this week and red death once, but they were for other people. It really is insane how unlucky I am with RNGesus.

2 RepliesI understood that legendary engrams are less likely to turn into blue items. From obervation, this did NOT change how the cryptarcg purple packeges( we get at postmaster when he levels up) still give us blue items. That still happens alot to me, but when i go to cryptarch with a purple its almost always purple, though sometimes asc materals

I think the cryptarch is better. Faction rank up packages, however, have been shi**. Probably just my luck, but 80% seem to be just one ascendant material and a commendation.
