This method worked this morning but doesn't work now even the new 1450 code isn't working psn is complete shit!!!
-
Does not work anymore I guess
-
Or maybe Sony should have enough server space to accommodate the number of consoles they have sold, instead of being cheap mutha-blam!-as. Honestly, what is my subscription fee going towards?
-
*cough* getanxboxone *cough*
-
My console didnt need to be changed, but my brother got one for xmas.. he could not get connected to psn.. changed his mtu and it worked, mine didnt need to be changed. Why exactly does this work? Been sooooooo lomg since I studied networking.
-
DO NOT DO THIS.
-
DO NOT DO THIS! YOU ARE SPAMMINH SONYS SERVERS AND WILL CAUSE IT TO CRASH AGAIN
-
You guys are literally re ddosing doing this. Just wait for the servers to come back up.

To all the naysayers, At 11:30AM CT, I changed my MTU and was able to hit the PSN right away. It took 2 attempts to log into Destiny. I was able to visit Xur and upgrade my Ghorn without issue. I proceeded to do 3 Eris bounties including the Omnigul strike. I then banked my launcher and switched characters. I did the same 3 bounties again. Then repeated the process on my 3rd character. I logged out around 2pm CT I never noticed any latency or issues pertaining to the MTU change. If someone had a loss of items or gear, my guess would be that you had a loss of connection to the Destiny server completely. Playstation stated on their support page that the network is in an "Intermittent" status. My suggestion would be to not do a Crota raid or anything that the loss of gear would be extremely upsetting. Wait until the network acquires a "Stable" status. The MTU change made no noticeable difference on my system other than a successful connection to the PSN.

I wouldn't do this. I did, and it worked yesterday for a bit, and now that I am back in on the psn network, I reset my network settings back and I cannot log in to destiny when 6 friends on my list are in. I seriously believe this method -blam!-ed up my sign in. So when I quit the game and got out, it kept this mtu sign in and my character/psn Id might permanently be stuck here. Thanks for the idea. This thread should be removed.

1473 did no work for me, but 1476 did (read about it on another post).
Go to your settings Set up internet connection, go to manual setup Keep every thing automatic Once you hit MTU change it to 1473 On and playing West palm beach florida
What are you retarded??? If you guys wanna have any chance of playing at all let Sony do they're work! This guy is way off... All you guys are going to and up doing is back the servers up again just like them lizard bitches! DO NOT DO THIS!
-
Do this at your own risk as it allows you to connect to servers being worked on and can, and has, resulted in players losing gear and/or entire characters from their account.
-
Works!
-
Hopefully psn is down because they are ensuring this never happens again... Hopefully...
-
Or go the legal way and use your mobilephone wlan:)

Edited by Alzoid: 12/28/2014 5:22:53 AMThis works not as a cheat or a hack but because there is a poorly configured router fragmenting packets. One side or the other is likely discarding fragmented packets. (Between Sony and Bungie) It might increase the number of packets but it is a negligible amount and well within the TCP/IP specs.
-
This ish works. I just got on with this method
-
Worked for me and playing Destiny with no issues. So is this bad? Will i lose progression? Do i switch back to 1500 when psn is back online? Thanks
-
Only do this if you want to risk losing items and characters. Fair warning.
-
In just repeatedly trying to log in for the past two hours. What's the definition of insane? Shut up.
-
Stop trying this. The servers were being repaires and were making progress earlier. When i got up at 8 central time thw servers were on intermitently. Now that everybody decided to try this stupid method of getting around the block it deprogressed them. Now they are back to just off. This wont work right now and if u want to be able to play all of ur content then just wait for them to fix it.
-
Let's add to the DDOS!! great job guys!!! All your doing is adding more, smaller requests to the server..
-
Edited by xblbw: 12/27/2014 11:10:06 PMWorked for me. No idea why.

The problem Sony is having is FAR bigger than end users changing their MTU size. This post was intended to help people get on PSN. I'm sure the login system is clogged beyond belief right now and the IT guys (me) are working their asses off to remediate server after server after server. A few people changing their MTU size is the least of the PSN issues, so the people saying this caused another outage can take a Midol. Peace Out

It didn't work in east TN
