Destiny keeps telling me that I'm not connected to XBL

My XB1 keeps telling me that I have to be connected to XBL to play Destiny, but I am connected. My other games are working fine except for this one. Is there anything I can do to fix this? This type of stuff is getting old. edit: ..an hour later it's asking me to download an update I've already downloaded and says "installing Destiny". Here's to hoping it'll work now. edit 2: Logged in. Hopefully it lasts. edit 3: It lasted for an hour and then I got vultured. Now it's back to telling me I need to be connected to XBL.

  • don't know if you are still having problems but I was having a similar problem yesterday. what I did after doing a hard reset and power cycling my router (which neither worked), was quit out of destiny and loaded another game altogether. then reloaded destiny - downloaded the update again - and boom, it worked. hope it helps. btw, they seem to be doing more maintenance on the servers now. if you get "newt" quit out of destiny and restart.

  • Unplug your Xbox when it's off. Wait 15 seconds. Plug back in and log into Destiny

Just had this issue, I was connected to XBox1, In a party chatting to some peeps ready to do VOG and Destiny dashboards, tried restarting it multiple times but kept on getting the network issue banners, make sure you're connected to XboxLive... Restarted my Xbox, pulled the ethernet cable, still no joy. Uninstalled Destiny (digital copy brought over from 360), I could still party chat with people, the network and multiplayer tests all passed, now it seems I can't reinstall the game. Troll lol lol, stuck at 1% installing but its failed multiple times at 1%. Trying to look at the bright side but this is not particularly funny! EDIT: Odd, it was stuck at 1% for ages, popped up and said the install had failed, checked the queue for the download and was about to restart it again and it said ready to launch, currently connected and downloading 76MB update... fingers crossed! EDIT2: Seems to have kicked on, now downloading content, 39% since my last update, its going to take a few hours at this rate but I'll persevere. Bottleneck is either Xbox (due to recent denial of service attacks, maybe Vex related) or Bungie, guessing its the former. EDIT3: back in, it seems a level of patience is required, although i appreciate some people have on-going issues with connectivity.

      • Anger issues much? As has been stated numerous times XBL and PSN went down on Christmas. Or do you not remember being unable to sign in? Getting a huge network cleaned up and running again is not a simple, easy task. Obviously there are still a few kinks in the system. Destiny, being online only, is getting hit harder than most. I had issues with mine craft too. So to re-iterate; IT'S NOT BUNGIE'S FAULT. Yes we paid for the game, but I don't recall signing a contract saying Bungie is obliged to satisfy our every desire. That's not their job. Neither is trying to fix things they have no control over. They really don't owe us anything. Yet they still work hard to provide us with content that I personally enjoy very much. In spite of all the hate that is expressed here. Chew on that for a while. Hopefully it'll stop your whining for a bit. // End rant

            • I had same issue, then my Xbox One downloaded another update (3rd in a few days) and now I'm back and ready to resume getting my butt kicked :). Note to Bungie! You better start getting your crap together as I, for sure, am getting tired of getting booted from matchmaking, and since matchmaking is my only option ( since most of my friends use PSN) then I am basically screwed out of all the cool stuff that everyone else seems to be using on me. Again, how about opening up everything to matchmaking? PS: Sucks even worse to be on PSN...

              • Worst Christmas ever! Anyone else in here old enough to remember getting video games on Christmas and as long as you had the right adapter for your tv you could play? Back then troubleshooting consisted of batteries, connectors, and the occasional blowing on the game cartridge.

                • I had this error all day yesterday, then was finally able to get on @ 2am and play for a while. Now I'm getting the error again... As someone who has played many mmos at release and xmas, this is very familiar. I think bungie was not ready for the influx of xmas players. They're letting everyone run with the "hackers" being responsible, but I'm betting this is them being caught with their proverbial pants down. :)
