Digital Upgrade & Game Progress
If I upgrade my digital version of Destiny, does my progress synchronize between last-gen and next-gen? For example: if I buy an exotic from Xur on my next-gen console, will it also show up on my last-gen console? Hopefully that makes sense.

Others have answered this, but I wanted to hop in and provide an official response. Yes, your account, characters, and progression are shared across console family (PS3<->PS4, Xbox 360<->Xbox One).

All your progress is stored on Bungie's servers, so if you sign in within the same console family (360/XB1 or PS3/PS4) you can go back and forth between generations. The only thing that doesn't transfer is the red sparrow and blacksmith shader pre-order DLC.

I know for sure you can transfer your stuff from old to new. Don't know about new to old though.
