You lost me Bungie.

Sorry guys. I'm getting off the hamster wheel. I don't like the goalposts being moved. Let me start off by saying I loved this game, and I probably will be back, someday. But for now the game feels like a chore. I got Destiny at launch, and grew as a Guardian. It took me three months, the iron banner for a pair of boots, but I finally got to lvl 30. I was starting to a mass a decent collection of exotics. I was hooked. Then the dark below launched and all this gear I'd grinded for months was completely worthless. Undeterred, I began lvling vanguard gear and preparing for the new raid. I reset my prized thorn and started leveling it back up to something worthwhile. But then something happened. I looked at my character. And a random at the tower. And then a friends. We're all wearing the same gear now. My character, my sense of progression, my story, my alts identity, was now cookie cutter. Generic. Bland. I never noticed it before, but we all were wearing the same gear before too; mostly VOG raid armor with one individualized exotic. The thought of grinding for the next month or two or three, simply to get back to the place I just grinded and fought to get to for the last three months doesn't seem like much fun now. The prospect that I'll spend a month, maybe two, then the new expansion ships and all of this happens again... This isn't what I call "fun." I don't know how to fix this problem. It all stems from the fact that gear = levels. I hope you all can realize that these things are problems with your design and find ways to mitigate them. I'll be following and hope you change these things. But for now, this hamster is getting off the grind wheel. I'm not angry, I've played this game for over 200 hours. That's about 40 cents an hour for what I spent on the game and season pass. That's an excellent rate for entertainment. Like I said, I may even be back someday, especially if these problems are addressed. Anyway, that's my two cents. I'm sure the trolls are on their way to comment and rage as you read this. But I hope I'm not the only one sad and leaving because of the direction this game is going. Because if this is the direction videogames are going, I'm not going to be playing them in five years. I grind enough in my life; I call it work. When I get home, I want to play. *edit* I originally quoted 80 hours. After thinking about it, I figured that was only on one character. I checked and had over 120 hours played on my Titan. I updated the post accordingly. I want to thank everyone for their support, comments, and/or insights. I never expected to get this much feedback, and certainly not a response from Bungie/DeeJ. Merry Christmas! #exotics #progression #expansion #burntout #grinding

  • Lol. You'd hate WoW. They just boost everyone who buys the expansion to level 90 instantly, which was the former level cap. It's part of games like this. In all the complaining there is never a viable alternative provided. What Bungie botched was the need to re level exotic weapons from scratch. That was really stupid. They should have just added one to the upgrade tree and called it even, but other than that you have to give people the innate ability to access the new content immediately, or in a short time, and the way to do that is to provide the gear. Otherwise the complaints would be: - OMG I bought the DLC and I can't access the raid without continuing to pintlessly grind the VoG.
