Materials for Marks! Where did you go?
Dear Bungie Devs,
Why did you decide to do away with the materials for marks mechanic? Everytime we go patrolling we find loot crates everywhere, all containing materials. After a while, you settle on your kit setup and you don't need it to upgrade anything anymore. I've got 280 spinmetal sitting in my vault ever since I realized you took this out. As far as I know, there were no exploits of this mechanic, you only got like 3 marks for 50 materials. Now you have to pay to buy materials, 10 marks for 20 materials. Just cause some people can't be bothered going to a planet and getting it, or are flaming cause you can get crucible marks without playing the broken crucible gameplay, there is no need to take stuff out of the game. Based on E3 trailers, we are slowly buying back the "original game" with DLC, but you're removing unproblematic parts of the game. 2 vanguard vendors, 5 crucible vendors! Need I say more?

1 ReplyAgreed. Makes no sense to remove it. Why not remove rep gain and just keep the exchange 10 marks for 50 material or 50 materials for 10 marks. Seems like they screwed both sides by removing it for us and lower the amount for the other. The addition of commendations seems like another big F U too. This has to be the worst grinding game I've played. At least Diablo 3 fixed the bad loot drops after players complained.

Agreed. I'd like to have both exchanges available. Just balance it so you couldn't profit from trading back and forth. I'd like a way to gain Crucible marks without having to play sooo many matches. They could also remove the reputation gains if they wanted. Or just let you sell to Faction vendors but not to the Crucible Quartermaster. Either way you would have to play the crucible to gain rep with Lord Shaxx. You would have to do strikes for the Vanguard and you could do either for the factions. I like that actually. Crucible matches to gain reputation with Lord Shaxx. Strikes to gain reputation with the Vanguard, and you can gain Faction reputation either way. Heck, they're issuing half the patrol missions anyway. And if you can only sell your materials to Faction vendors, no "exploit" reputation gains with Lord Shaxx.

They should put in a mechanic of trading "materials" for "marks".

Actually there was a slight cheat in that mats exchange it used to lvl your weapons & armour 2 so farmers were rewarded for their time & effort! Now I have loads of spinmetal that I'm gonna have to start deleting soon unless we get more vault space! :(

I want this back and here's why. I suck at PVP and all I do is drag down my team I feel so shitty when we loose because it was my fault so I harvest mats so I could stay away from PvP but know I'm forced to play it so for any hardcore PvP player I apologize in advance

They really need to bring this back, grinding pvp for 2 badges at a time is infuriating not to mention 10 rep points.....

I know! Now that it's gone im just completely filling up on relic iron and I don't know what to do as the only thing I have ever needed it for was my VoC.
