So, it was a lovely sunday night, around 11PM, and i decided to do the Vault of Glass on normal mode. Just a casual experience with lovely people i invited from the forums.
I had done the raid a few times before, and got the Epilogue and two Chatterwhite shaders as rewards from killing my buddy Atheon. Could be better, as i was hunting for the other elemental primaries like Fatebringer and Vision of Confluence.
My team starter solid. We got to the Gatekeeper in no time, communicating well and using teamwork to the best of our ability. After the oracles I got 'rewarded' with ascendant energy. From killing the Templar I got a piece of useless raid gear (which I already have) and, on top of it all, the exotic chest also gave me energy (thanks for reducing the exotic chance in the last patch btw bungie).
Now here is where it gets fun. My team spends a full hour in the Gorgons Maze, just because two guys were running around by their own. We told them to follow us, only to see them rage quit a few tries later. With a team of 4 we managed to beat the maze.
Following that I get to the worst gaming experience I ever had. My team dies 2 times while fighting Atheon, they rage quit, and now its up to me to invite random players from the forums. They also left. After around half an hour of searching for players, we manage to get atheon to half health, only to die again. Team rage quits.
So this is when it is 3 AM, I want to go to bed, but I don't want my grinding and progress that night to be worthless. So I keep going. I find an experienced team. They help me to kill atheon in minutes.
This is the moment I have been waiting for for so long, the rewards for my time consuming grind on this game:
