Taking a step back from the argument about whether or not Bungie listens to criticism or not, let's look at a little math:
12,869,066×$60=$772,143,960
That is how much money Bungie and Activision made off of just the players currently playing, without including the DLC. With their stated budget of $500,000,000 they've made over 150% of their budget on the first installment of the game franchise. They are not getting a monthly incentive to keep us playing (no monthly fees). I dont know their operating costs or the taxes involved, so will not speculate on their profit margin.
Even without that monthly incentive, economics tells them that Destiny is a rousing success, whether or not we continue to play. This is by no means an all-inclusive reason, as the combined total time of play by all people playing is 99,589.541 years, and the game has only been out for 3 months. That's almost 100 MILLENNIA of playtime, in 3 MONTHS!
To continue, the beginning of something even resembling this kind of instantaneous feedback from a developer was Mass Effect 3 and its horrible ending. That set the precedent of a game developer bowing to the community. However, it may be an anomaly and not a precedent. What it did create was the belief that the community had the power to brow beat a developer until they capitulate.
I'm not saying I agree or disagree with their actions, or whether or not they are listening (despite the title), the simple fact is that, from the standpoint of economics, Destiny is a successful game.

EDIT: I thank you all for your replies. Whether supportive, detractive, praising, or derogatory you took the time to read my post and reply. I've learned a lot from it.
My maths are flawed. I understand. The point of this post was to get people to take a step back and think; to consider things objectively. I hope this was accomplished. Thank you for your time.

Your maths are a bit off (different countries and all that). They have made well over that much, and you cannot account the gross profit (Bungie needs to pay their employees). The game itself didnt cost all that much to develop according the the lead designer and writer during a press conference a while back, and that half a billion dollars was NOT SPENT ON DEVELOPMENT. That money went toward advertising and merchandise. So, what cannot actually for sure tell how much they made or did not make, how much it cost or didn't unless Bungie and Activision show us their books. Which they won't.
