Post says it all. Id quit the game but I already have the season pass. Congrats bungie you really screwed us on this one. I'm not the only one to say this and I'm sure not the last. You guys should actually feel really bad for this game. You aren't good game makers at all. That's why you guys left halo when that was falling off the cliff. Just face it you guys are a bunch of has beens.

Not really , for those with Alzheimer's it's an everyday adventure..,
-
Stop complaint and sell the game. If you truly hate it so much you wouldn't let a season pass hold you back. But nope instead of moving on to s better game u choose to sit here and bitch.

I think you mean, "Grinding isn't a game for me....but instead of researching I pre-ordered a game that was said to resemble an MMO and I had no idea what an MMO-style game entailed. Then I spent even more money on something I wasn't familiar with and now I have buyer's remorse." Seriously, the amount of people blaming Bungie for their poor investment is astonishing. Lesson learned, people. DO NOT PRE ORDER ANYTHING... EVER!!!! one more time, because some people might have missed it. DO NOT PRE ORDER ANYTHING!!!!

We have people here on both sides of the argument. Yet, I still don't see how grinding is a game. It's a chore. Now if the grind was worth it, in this case it really isn't, then I can understand. This game has all the wrong elements from the genres we love.
-
I get what you mean and I agree. Grinding is a mechanic used to keep players in the game for as long as possible, but when your game is nothing but a grind it takes away from the enjoyment. For once I would like to do something other than the same strikes, trying to complete the same bounties, all so I can max out my gear and do it all over again. There's no other fluff, or distractions, or mini games, nothing to make this game world feel more immersive.
-
Agreed.
-
No it isnt, but it is really addictive.

Edited by HolyTrollin: 12/22/2014 6:04:35 PMAgreed. There are many games that struck the right balance. In those games; the grind is part of the game. They at least conceal grinding behind coherent story-telling and logical risk-reward. For Destiny - the grind is the game. They might as well have named it Equipment Lottery Farming Adventure. All the shallow RNG mechanics and progression barriers are just pathetic, hamster-wheel mobile gaming-inspired, playtime-padding gimmicks.

You have to love the grind. Love it.

Casino slot machines are a game arnt they?
-
I think it's also complete BS that after working so hard on a nightfall or strike or/and grinding engrams, you get items for different classes. The loot you get in the game after working so hard should MATTER. It's so bad how they made the reward system. It's just a lottery machine and you don't feel any better if you did good in the crucible because the guy at the bottom got an exotic.

I remember spending countless hours playing Halo 2 multiplayer and didnt get a single experience point. Define grind? We played for fun. Oh, and you occassionally get something for it.
-
Every RPG is a grind you just never notice cuz there all fun and less boring after hours of grinding
-
It's plain to see that the truly talented Bungie members either left or were fired. Those running Bungie now put screwing over their players as their biggest priority. No Story, No Vision, Lies upon Lies as to how Expansive, Mysterious and Enthralling Destiny would be. Destiny has a Mad-Lib produced plot, Brain Dead Enemy AI, Zero Surprises, just Endless Repetition. It has the most Boring and Dead game worlds ever encountered. What a GD waste. No way is Destiny gonna last 10 years in this appalling state! I'd say Destiny 2 actually getting made is a long-shot. Players have good reason to feel betrayed and let down by Destiny. Bungies former stellar reputation has been demolished, never again will pre-order or buy a Bungie game without giving reviewers time to find out how awful it is.

If the game world had been more like those of Skyrim and Red Dead Redemption, then perhaps roaming around doing 'missions' & bouties would be lest tedious. Maybe if we felt that our grinding actually was moving plot/the Traveller's cause fwd, we'd feel less sore about it. Atm we feel like glorified pest control. All the npcs are sub-standard. The fact there are none outside the tower is equally disappointing. Why are there no Npc Guardians out in the world? No quest givers to happen upon in the so called 'wild'? I don't mind grinding provided there is a reason to it. Why cant excess ships be sold to Dead Orbit who want to flee and explore the galaxy? Why cant weapon parts be sold to FWC so they can build new weapons for the battles they forsee in the future? Why arent excess materials wanted by New Monarchy to help the city grow and defend itself in case the traveller never wakes? Things like the above are just ideas, but they could make grinding feel more worthwile and connected as opposed to the self centered levelling that it is now. We are supposed to be saving Humanity and 'pushing back the Darkness' but mainly seems like plugging fingers in a leaky Dam

Raid matchmaking is a game, let's get our game on!
-
Grinding isn't YOUR game. Post corrected.
-
Ya. Game is functional but they totally punted on the entire PvE experience. It's just a mindless grinder with solid shooting mechanics.
-
Isn't this game called FarmVille tho? Or is that something else that's just as hated?
-
Grinding is part of all games, this one just has to much.
-
This game has leaned way to hard on the grind and not enough reward to go with it. The lack of content on top of the bare wired grind really saps all the joy out of the game. While I've paid my dues up to House of Wolves, after the Xmas gift comes I think my guardian will take a nap till the next expansion. If nothing has changed, and house of wolves is just like TDB then that return will be short lived.
-
It's a dance move
-
So...basically, you want everything handed to you? Is that what you paid for? I don't know about you, but I like to earn my gear and the changes made with TDB have supported that. It's not a perfect game by any means, but I think it's headed in the right direction. Do I like being forced to do PvP to unlock an exotic gun? Nope. So...I discard the bounty and move on.

Would people stop with the welcome to mmos comment! Because everyone is so used to the same bullshit systems of grinding they fail to see that destiny could be different Imagine if it had a different type of levelling or farming system. Imagine if it wasnt like every other mmo. Wait your heads wont probably be able to compute and youll get an error code or some shit
-
I played 1 week ago for 1h 19min. Not anymore! Still waiting for the promised product. :( Grinding is no game design.
-
Is it worth the frustration of dreaded grinding on boring locations and missions. I say just cut your losses and enjoy another game.
