Bungie seems to like numbers, so let me give them some.
I played twenty matches of Clash using mainly Pocket Infinity and here are the results. (In spoilers so you don't have to see all the data.)
42 to 7 – 5140
41 to 10 – 4610
30 to 10 – 3415
44 to 8 – 5030
31 to 7 – 3530
33 to 4 – 3815
27 to 5 – 3030
34 to 8 – 3790
33 to 7 – 3725
33 to 12 – 3945
35 to 8 – 4205
38 to 3 – 4630
13 to 9 – 1435 (AFK half the match)
32 to 3 – 3795
38 to 6 – 4435
37 to 3 – 4555
26 to 9 – 2930
44 to 5 – 5800
51 to 8 – 5570
35 to 5 – 4050
Total: 697 kills to 137 deaths with 81,435 score.
5.09 K/D,
35.85 kills per game average,
4071 score per game average.
Most Valuable Player in every single one of them.
If I had done this little experiment on a new character (I couldn't, my character slots are full) I'd be, (system and worldwide out of 200,000 players) on Tracker:
1st for kills per match average.
1st for score per match average.
3rd for average kill/death ratio. (2nd without the bad match.)
Yes, my stats are normally good. Yes, there were some low level players in the lobbies–though the lobbies get disbanded if you do too well, which helps limit this. Still doesn't change the fact that if I had deleted one of my other 3 characters and done this on a fresh one I'd be 1st to 3rd worldwide in most Clash stats out of 200,000 people. That's WITH it being glitched and being stuck with a useless gun once a match until I find an ammo crate, losing half my ammo every time I die due to Special ammo armor bugs and not having reload speed gauntlets... not to mention flying solo.
It's just broken. At first it's fun and then it's just ludicrous. Imagine if you could charge your Found Verdict for one second to fire three shells at once as a slug across half the map and OHKO someone (even during their Super) and you had practically infinite ammo. That's Pocket Infinity. Hell, you can outright completely miss your first shot and still kill someone with the other two before they can fire easily with a precharge.
I don't want to nerf it in PvE. I think the first change and a really easy one is to switch Surplus to Metal Detector. Surplus doubles ammo per pick up and this works in both PvP and PvE on Special weapons; because of it Infinity can get 15 rounds per ammo crate, which is insane, as the major drawback, the ammo consumption, is negated. Metal Detector increases the drop rate of Special ammo packs in PvE only. So this way you'd get as much ammo in PvE, just by getting more packs dropping instead of more ammo per pack. If Metal Detector isn't as strong as Surplus, it can be buffed because no guns outside of Uncommon Fusion Rifles can even get it normally.
EDIT: Before you get your undies in a bunch, if Bungie cannot change it without altering its effectiveness in PvE, then I'd rather them leave it as is. I'm only looking for PvP changes. Surplus -> Metal Detector wouldn't really hurt the performance in PvE if Metal Detector were made a bit stronger. It seems like Bungie CAN alter PvE damage separately from PvP, judging by past Scout Rifle changes.
Damage vs. alien combatants increased by 6% - 25% (based on tier)
I agree that if changes would neuter it in PvE then it should be left as is, as PvE is a bigger component of the game.

pocket infinity is one of the worst fusion rifles, i don't even understand this post?? it's a slow, trash gun and that auto ability is so hit or miss.
-
OMG SOMEONE CALL THE WAAHMBULANCE
-
You fail to take in to account the subjective nature of player skill. The infinity (one of my vault trophies) has already been messed with enough. Perhaps petition Bungie to template nerf all weapons for normal crucible? That way the homosexuals that play pvp and the peeps that play pve will all be gay.
-
You know that pocket infinity is REALLY hard to get? The bounty for it needs 10 blue fusion rifles which is a lot harder than it sounds, and the first step is IMPOSSIBLE. You have to " find fire-team turrets last stand on Venus, which took me SO LONG! I spent 6 hours looking for that ghost.
-
I honestly upgraded it and used it and don't like it. When it was glitched with the quick charge it was really good but now it's fire rate is too slow and the range is to low. I could easily kill anyone using it by chilling back and watching out for corners if I was in a try hard mood
-
It's a pussy fusion rifle (Pussy because you're using it in PvP). Try Plan C. If you're good at switching weapons quickly then it puts PI to shame. But all fusion rifles are pussy in Crucible so it doesn't really matter.
-
A majority of this is your good at pvp.
-
Pocket infinity cannot be perfect! It's just fine as it is, not many people have/understand the power of a fragment from a shattered memory (see what I did there) and when you say half the map... My PI has worse range than my invective, it's just the auto fire that keeps it alive otherwise it would be collecting dust
-
Yeah.... Pocket Infinity is broken. I thought that was common knowledge by now?
-
Im going to be honest, I took it into the Crucible for the first time tonight. It quickly became my primary, and the following 10k points of my Bad Juju bounty were soundtracked by my cackling. Holy -blam!- its powerful. 😅
-
I prefer plan C.
-
Pocket infinity is in my vault ill use light/beware for pvp all day
-
Dismantled it. It was pants from the moment I got it untill it was maxed. Just my opinion.

Edited by daurbantiger: 12/20/2014 11:08:14 AMNo more nerfing! People like you ruined the Suros.
-
It is by far the best storm weapon if u can control the recoil. If u got a prob with the weapon then get it urself and turn it on the others using it and stop bitching. Even if they nerf if there's no way to do it because of the amount of fire power it brings to the fight. All u nerf bitches need to go to walmart and buy nerf guns and play out back if u want a nerf arsenal so badly. As for me I mess with real firepower but this is just a painkiller for not being to actually let lead fly for a while.
-
They just patched this... Twice... Get over it

Freetos
waffle house terrorist - old
Fusion rifles should always be an instant kill in crucible or they should be weaker and have an unbelievable buff to their charge rates... As of now I have only one shot at killing someone with a fusion rifle and if I don't kill them, they kill me... That is how it should be -
And this is why I won't take fusion rifles into the crucible I'll stick with my hc sniper and lmg combo
-
This is what I got out of your post. This gun is so powerful Bungie. Look how good I am at PvP because of it. I think you should nerf this gun instead of use the time you spend on nerfing this gun to add more/better content or fix stuff that matters, just so I don't do this good anymore. But thats just me.
-
I stopped playing because of the hand cannon and fusion rifles. It's -blam!-ing stupid and op, take no skill.
-
I'd rather not have metal detector as you said it's a PvE thing and also special ammo isn't rare I think surplus is great on the infinity.
-
Salt levels are high in here how much for bag salt?
-
Enough with the nerfs let the damn thing be. Hopefully they wont do anymore balancing for vanilla guns.
-
Its just Fusion rifles in general... If I need kills or points for a close game I always swap to my fusions. I don't like doing it because I feel they're overpowered in general.. The 'charge time' argument doesn't really have any point because you set up your shots the same as any other gun, only difference is you're charging the fusion while you're doing it
-
I'm betting u that at least one of those is mine...jk
the pocket of infinity is beast

Edited by PRINCE_ALI_1985: 12/20/2014 9:48:53 PMPlan c is better for PVP shorter recharge rate and more range. PI have poor range and long charge rate. Nerfing in general is bad we want puff. They need to nerf green ammo in PVP not weapons.
