A major factor in development constraints for Destiny is meeting projected profit milestones. A great deal of players are currently experiencing frustration with the content releases feeling more like quantity than quality.
Resources are allegedly being allocated to a second release for the franchise. This means that at least one team is focusing on another game while a portion of the player base feel like they're playing an unfinished release.
If it meant paying a monthly subscription to support heavier investment in properly fleshing out the world of Destiny, would you pay it?

Yes, if expansions were of the size and scale of WoW with the graphics and gameplay of Destiny then I would certainly pay monthly. But the expansions and raid would need to be considerably larger. They would need to add huge playable areas on existing planets as well as new planets. And making the raids longer and harder would be a must. Many more mini boss encounters and a minimum of four to five big boss encounters, along with all their puzzly jazz would be really cool. Also story would need to be sufficiently fleshed out with a Significant amount of new story content. All this I would be willing to pay monthly for.
