I have played warlock habitually since launch, I would love to level up my hunter. But the grind... The grind.
I think it would be beneficial to lessen the grind of cross characters.
Raise the cap on marks you can earn in a week or the max you can hold at a time. (200) but make them usable on all characters under the same user.
I want fur on my Titan, but I sure as shit don't want to grind for rank 3 vanguard. Then have to wait another week to earn the other 25 marks because I currently have 0 since I haven't started really playing on Titan yet.
If I earn rank 3 on Eris with my warlock, why would I ever want to go through that 2 week bounty grind again on both of my other characters.?
Dailys can stay the same, activity rewards can remain exclusive to characters, but I really think rep and marks could be universal.
Thoughts below. vvv

One argument against my topic states.
You can just level up one character, but everything you need from that character and transfer it over.
Which is basically what I mean to diminish the need for, if you play one character more than the others than you need that one character to buffer all of your transactions for others.
Or-
It would shorten the length of time you would play destiny.
I disagree, I enjoy the grind, but I enjoy a grind that exudes benefits. I don't mind repeatability in place of replayability but don't force me to repeat a sequence I've already done for no benefit. I like the idea that I'm rank 2 Eris and I have completed bounties on my warlock, now let me switch to hunter and pick up the hunter exclusive bounty and add it to my total rep. I have no need to do every bounty again, they're already done on a character that might have been able to finish them easier.
But if I want to keep my characters even across the board I would need to grind 3 blade Knights on 3 different occasions. (I know this is easy, just an example)
Seems redundant, not replayable.

You only need to rank up one eris character. You can buy all class items from a single character
