Idea/Suggestion to prevent obsoletion

So I was thinking about this for a while. People want the Vault of Glass (and it's equipment) to still be GOOD, but the equipment not to be obsolete. In short: a reason (other than shards/energies) to do it. At the same time, there's Crota's end, and we don't want it to become moot either. My suggestion? Add a level 32 Vault of Glass. And when the House of Wolves rolls around, add a higher level version for Vault AND Crota's End. This way, all the raids can be scaled up even higher to keep up to date, without killing the gear altogether. Maybe add raid completion-only items (IE: like Crux of Crota) that you get from older raids at these higher levels, which can upgrade your old Raid Weapons, while drops/chests offer improved versions of the raid armor (mayhaps the fabled alternate color schemes?). Edit: This idea's mostly there for the sake of not making raids themselves become obsolete, as well as the fact that the weapons shouldn't become obsolete. Everyone has their own style, and some weapons fit those styles better. Praedyth's revenge will remain an excellent overall sniper, while Black Hammer is the ultimate boss slayer for example.

  • IMO, they should have changed the cap on prior raid gear and weapons, requiring new materials from the new raid to upgrade it (max it out). Offer new gear that can be only obtained through the new raids, but they made prior gear and prior raid basically obsolete. Vendor gear is more powerful, making it useless to have done the VOG. Now, the same exotics have a higher damage, but you have to start from scratch on leveling them up once you obtain them. Not my idea of fun. I've done it once, why do I want to do it a second time for 31 more in damage? That's not worth it, not when considering that with the next expansion pack, it could possibly be the same thing all over again. Where is the loyalty to the players that bungie has already? Was this just a move to make more money? Now players can buy the game today, purchase the vendor gear, grind and be at the same level without having spent time grinding in the VOG. It shows to me that investing any more money in a bungie game isn't that satisfying. This was the first bungie game I bought, never played halo. I loved the game, up until this. As a software developer, I do not like companies that are not fair or considerate of their current clientele in leu of garnishing more customers. So my apologies if this offends anyone. It was not meant in any way to be offensive. I am not saying I will not play destiny, but I highly doubt I will be playing it as much or buying any more expansion packs. It would either be a waste of time and/or a waste of money to me as there is not a goal for me in the game when the next expansion pack basically will force you to start from scratch.
