Would This Be An Acceptable Solution For Raid Matchmaking?

Basically this... 1). Allow matchmaking for normal modes. ------ A). Make VoG relevant again. 2). Do not allow matchmaking for hard modes. ------ A). Add a place in the tower, maybe a board we can access, ------ that allows fireteams to post that they are looking for groups ------ or more members. Basically destinylfg.net IN-game. I know, I know, these aren't revolutionizing ideas here, but they don't have to be. Normal has matchmaking, hard doesn't, but there's an in-game avenue to help get groups for the harder mode. Simple. Fair... Thoughts? <3

    • Matchmaking in the Raid is not a good idea. Take a look at the strike playlists. Look at how many people AFK during them to get the rewards without doing anything. Apply that now to the raids. What would it be like if the guy that was AFK'ing got teleported or was the last one that needed to get across the bridge? You can't boot him, even if you are the fireteam leader. Now think about how many ways there are to cause a wipe, and how many people would intentionally cause one just to troll the remaining members of the team. Remember, they can't be booted. So that guy that keeps on getting caught by the Gorgons and then laughing about it as you all call him asshole, gets to keep doing it until you all leave the game. Now let's talk about enabling the fireteam leader's ability to boot people. What's to stop the power hungry asshats from kicking the fireteam just as Crota or Atheon are about to die? I understand the frustration with having to post and hunt for fireteams to complete these 6 man missions. Believe me, if any one understands it's me. I have a lot of people on my friends list now from looking for teams, because my actual friends don't start playing until really late. Opening the raids up for matchmaking will not function the way that you want them to. Particularly when the trolls and AFK'ers find you.

sorry I spend enough time zoning in and out of places. wanting to zone into the tower to find a group that you could easily find on a computer or a tablet without going into the tower is just not the smart way to do it. and I'd be ok with making matchmaking for normal modes optional. long as I'm not forced into a group of idiots. I have my own group of idiots to raid with.

        • The excuse that Bungie gives for not having matchmaking for raids is nonsense. First, hardly anyone has 5 friends who play destiny on the same console so everyone has to go find randoms. Finding randoms on on the forums or a website is barely different than matchmaking would be. But it does take way longer. Second, the raids are not as hars as Bungie thinks they are. VoG on hard mode is only hard at the confluxes and when people don't listen.

        • When a new Raid releases, add matchmaking for the previous Raid, on normal only, and only for players who have already completed that particular raid in the past. Deal?

          • I think the problem is that the 16 player limit in the tower is not enough, especially since not all of them are looking to raid. If they could implement it a different way in the tower, that would be great. I think a good solution would be the following: 1. In some raid MM menu (found in, say, the vanguard playlist section), the user (you) has a list of filters for their preferences on other players - class, level, time they can play for, etc. Whatever filters seem useful. 2. The user is loaded into a public area with players that meet the user's criteria. The user would also have to meet the other player's criteria as well - in this case we will call the user and the other player a 'match'. The user can then interact with other matches and get to know them before raiding with them. This effectively means that all players in this public space would be in the same server together, but you would only be able to see the people you match with. Maybe limit the number of matches to 15 at a time so there are not too many character models to load at once on a given xbox. Now that I think about it, this is effectively how some online dating sites work, just with an added play space where matches can interact in-game rather than with just text.

          • Fireteam matchmaking. More people are likely to have 2 friends on than 5 friends. Match up two fireteams, and there you go. You can't tell me people will go AFK or dick around or not communicate in that instance since you are still with your dedicated fireteam

            • I would say no because at the current time you only need to be a 27 to enter the normal raids.

            • or just designate an area. Everyone looking to raid, go stand by the staircase or some nonsense. Put a robot holding a sign that reads “Will Raid For Loot” on it. Problem solved.

              • I agree. But Bungie has been clear that there will never be raid matchmaking. But the in game LFG is a must.

                • Yeah, I completely agree, normal mode not hard should be fine. I know in MM for strikes I often get put in with really good players, where as I seldom have someone jump off or go afk. More than likely you'll also get people in there who are geared well. I also think there should be MM for the heroic weekly, not so much the nightfall.

                • Crota requires to much teamwork for matchmaking to be effective. Can it be done. Yes. Will it be a one and done case. Never.

                  • I once recommended making a new public area, maybe in the reef to make use of it, that players can join specifically to look for raid teammates. Allow a large number of players (more than 16) to just walk around and chat with each other so they can try to get to know someone before trying the raid with them. Up until now I have had a consistent team to play with, but I've had less and less time to play so whenever I'm on there's a good chance they've already completed it for the week. Starting to want some kind of in-game raid MM myself.
