Don't Waste My Time
I have children and a standard 9-5 job, my time is important and the expansion reveals just how much Bungie doesn't understand that.
For weeks I have been sacrificing 2 hours of precious sleep a night to level up my Guardian. Then when I go to raise my most prized pieces of gear all that effort gets pissed on.
1. I had to buy the upgrades, nothing dropped from the sky, no free reward. It wasn't a cool new drop that I now have to do my part to make it mine. No, I used my hard earned resources to purchase the upgrade. To increase the value of something I already worked hard for.
2. Instead of adding a few more slots to fill, all my previous work, to include rare resources and time, just vanished. I was so excited to get the new levels that it didn't dawn on me till I started grinding again. I was all "Hey.... didn't I do this already?"
3. It is even harder to do this now. The strike, nightfall, daily, and weekly difficulties have been raised for solo players. I live in Hawaii, am 40+, have very limited hours to play; it's not easy finding like minded people with the same schedule.
I didn't know how angry and upset I was till my wife asked me why I wasn't playing Destiny anymore. I went from playing hours a night to only 2 nights in the last week.
Bungie my efforts and time are valuable to me and you threw your indifference to that in my face. The only saving grace is that I have met really cool people who I used to enjoy playing with and I want to catch up with them. Remedy this situation or there will be one less guardian participating in, spreading the word of, and buying into Destiny.

4 RepliesIt's plain to see that the truly talented Bungie members either left or were fired. Those running Bungie now put screwing over their players as their biggest priority. No Story, No Vision, Lies upon Lies as to how Expansive, Mysterious and Enthralling Destiny would be. Destiny has a Mad-Lib produced plot, Brain Dead Enemy AI, Zero Surprises, just Endless Repetition. It has the most Boring and Dead game worlds ever encountered. What a GD waste. No way is Destiny gonna last 10 years in this appalling state! I'd say Destiny 2 actually getting made is a long-shot. Players have good reason to feel betrayed and let down by Destiny. Bungies former stellar reputation has been demolished, never again will pre-order or buy a Bungie game without giving reviewers time to find out how awful it is.

Unless you intend to play Iron Banner, it really doesn't matter because you'll find more weapons and armour that are better than your pre-existing ones anyway. Additionally, the levels required for the Strikes and Weekly Heroics have obviously been raised so that they offer more of a challenge to higher levels. For instance, if I'm a Level 30 I am hardly going to find difficulty in competing in a Level 24 Strike – it makes perfect sense. Whilst I disagree that you have to purchase the expansion to play these new features, I don't see much of an issue due to the fact that most people bought Limited or Legendary Edition and received the expansion codes in-order to play. I am positive that there will be a resolve as it is unjust. People discredit Destiny [i]and[/i] Bungie far too much.

1 ReplyOkay. I have limited time also. You don't need to immediately be a 31 to compete or have fun playing. Relax. casual players seem to have just as good equipment as most of the advanced players. Aside from 32 armor, plethora of guns, and ranked factions. The rare weapons now are not that far from legendaries, or exotics. Besides if u had played destiny 80 hours a week. Nearly everything u attained was just washed with the last update. So just chill, and do whatever BUNGIE will wash out the stuff your getting now next month.

Right on man... there are some who don't mind taking it right up the rear they accept everything without question no matter how ridiculous. KillaJD82 seems to be one of them. There are more creative methods that Bungie could have implemented for the new upgrades. I'm not saying they are not trying to improve the game but the current method(s) just shouts "stalling!!!, while we continue to work to add more content." I still like the game but changes need to be made, so I've decided to dedicate some of my time to providing practical ideas that should help improve the overall gaming experience. Side note: Honestly, I believe the lack of content could be overlooked if certain features were implemented correctly, including this re-leveling of Exotic gear. If anyone really thought about it this same piece of gear helped you gain 10 levels (lvl 20 to lvl 30) now you are having to redo the entire thing for more time, money, and materials for an additional 2 level. Really!? If this is not injustice I don't know what is... I reforged three items the 1st week and ran out of Glimmer for the first time then it hit me, why even bother with reforging more that 1 piece of exotic gear per class. You only need that one (1) exotic + (2) faction lvl 31 gear and (1) lvl 30 to get to lvl 31. From there you just run the new RAID and get pieces for lvl 32. Now you just wait for Xur to sell the other items new and improved or hope and pray to get them as a drop (don't hold your breath you will pass out) then use the 7K+ glimmer you saved to upgrade your new items break down the old ones for the "exotic" shard and keep rolling. You just saved time, Glimmer and Strange coins. *At this point has the light gone off yet for anyone about what I mean about poor implementation. I'm getting prepared to submit some practical ideas that I hope the Destiny community will support and Bungie will take seriously...

Nobody said you have to upgrade your items past 300. If you trade it in you get it back at 302 already stronger. Nobody is telling you you have to do this. If you don't want to don't do it. Simple

I agree totally with the OP. I think the update has had the effect of shaking the tree and making those of us who don't have a huge amount if disposable time just drop off.

you are right on the money , there will always be a few fanboys who defend bungie no matter what they do , and there will be responses from players who say xyz is easy, but they don't really solo, the ones that really solo this game know exactly what you are talking about. Bungie have been moving this game away from solo players. no more good strikes for non dlc, (capped at 24 and no good stuff) massively reduced payout from public events. new min 3 player scaling for weekly . added grind with commendations. doubled the number of engrams needed to rank up with the engram dude.. raised prices at the vanguard. stopped mats sales added additional currency stopped the exotic breakdown for ascendant shards.

4 Replies1. This is exactly how it was at the beginning, too. Buy from Xur or get a lucky drop from Nightfall or really lucky drop elsewhere. 2. This is what you did at the beginning, did you expect that to change? 3. Expansion has been out for 1.5 weeks. You're level 30, which means you're doing the Nightfall on-level with supbar gear. Think that you might just need to level your character and weapons first? I'm really confused as to what everyone expected. Destiny from the beginning has been raise your level, get new gear, raise that gear's level, rinse, repeat. Loot-based games always start to die down towards the end of content, which is why I was playing once a week for about a month before Darkness Below. Now I'm back to 3-4 nights a week. I know it's frustrating, but this is how every loot-based game works. Even Borderlands was SSDD once you beat the main story, you just restart focusing your gear even more heavily. Plus, you still have a level 2. Rebuild them, don't carry over guns and equipment, and enjoy the loot race again. Find people who game when you do. Don't think you can blame Bungie. Objectively, this was a fairly large expansion that wasn't meant to change the game at its core. Name one game that DLC is meant to change the game fundamentally.

3 RepliesSquad up with your new friends on another game, like GTA V or Battlefield 4. Only 2 guys on my friends list still play Destiny but they seem to be cutting down on the time they actually play now. I myself feel less inclined to play Destiny due to the constant grind this game has become.

Agreed. I have been playing a lot lately a work has been slow. It's still a grind even with more free time. I can't get over the rail armour and exotics either. Why not just add stuff or extra bubbles? Nobody would complain. By making us feel like we are losing stuff it hurts more upgrading everything PLEASE DONT DO THIS WITH WOLVES!!!

Most in our Clan are complaining about the grind these days - some have left or are discussing leaving. I'm just -blam!-ing tired.
