Destiny Random Wave/Objective Mode

After doing the raid on three different characters in about two hours, what is there to do in this game PvE wise? Basically you have the rest of the week to do bounties (which are not challenging in the least bit) and the same six strikes over and over. In order to keep people who much prefer PvE content over the crucible playing the game, Bungie needs to implement something new and different for us to do. So I suggest this: Much like Mass Effect 3's online multiplayer, we could be placed in a random map with a 6 member fire team (you could even reuse the crucible maps, they would work fine) and we would fight waves of random enemies. (probably not infinite waves like cod zombies, but something like 10-15 waves) Now to make it more random, the enemies could be fallen, hive, vex, cabal, or all of them combined in a single wave... Each wave being completely random/different. At certain waves, there would be some sort of objective such as: -capturing a small zone and holding it for a certain amount of time -retrieving some item and bringing it to a certain location -escorting something to its destination -killing certain target/targets within an allotted time -or there could even be random boss waves (or at the last wave, you could fight a boss). There should also be different difficulties of this particular game mode. Something like level 24, level 26, and level 30. In addition to the level 30 difficulty, there could be an epic/heroic difficulty where you would get random affixes thrown in from what bungie uses in the nightfall. So some type of burn would be applied, and then the other random affixes like angry, juggler or any of the other ones. This would make one want to bring in all types of elemental damage type guns and would keep you from just using the fatebringer/gjall every single run. In addition to this game mode, a new dude could show up in the tower who offers bounties to complete while in this wave/objective mode. He could also sell ammo packs that could only be used within this wave/objective mode but they would cost a fraction of the glimmer that the other packs do and would require a certain rep standing to purchase. (heavy ammo packs most likely requiring rank 3). Another interesting thing he could sell are gun damage modifiers or something of a similar idea. This would be something you could apply to a regular kinetic damage primary to make it do arc/solar/void (for those people who never got the fatebringer/voc/AE) and this would obviously only be usable while in this particular game mode. He could also sell weapons/armor for vanguard marks because there are 4 "factions" (including the actual crucible) that sell gear for crucible marks but only 1 that sells gear for vanguard marks. Now the rewards for this type of game mode would vary greatly depending on the difficulty and what wave your team made it to/completed, but I'm thinking the level 30 version rewards would be something like 8 vanguard marks and 40 rep with engrams. And the epic/heroic modified level 30 version would be something like 15 vanguard marks, 70+ rep with engrams and a very good chance to receive a legendary item/engram. (and a small chance at an exotic) For the people who still enjoy playing this game for its PvE content, obviously enjoy a grindy type game. This would present a new way to "grind" that would basically give you something completely unexpected and different every single match you played. Let me know what you guys think or any addition ideas you would add to this type of game mode.

  • I could definitely see it as some kind of training simulator type thing

I really like this idea. I have played similar type of modes in other games, and really enjoyed them. Give the fireteam am option of difficulty, 26/28/30 with the highest having no revive until after the segment is over, with 5 segments per game before the win. If the entire fireteam dies, then you start over. Rewards should scale as well with difficulty, much like the daily/weekly heroic, but there should also be exclusive drops to the game mode. Ascendant material? Coins? Motes? Rare and Legendary Engram depending on difficulty? Marks could be separate from vanguard/crucible, but redeemable at both for gear but not materials? My favorite public event is defend the conflux... Which is the most difficult typically. Having epic as a possible modifier could really make it interesting, and your fireteam would have to plan their weapon loadouts well to balance it out for all possibilities depending on the enemies. I think that there it's probably very little chance of this happening, since its a good idea... And Bungie doesn't seem to like to use good ideas.
