Effective Communication = A transmitted message in which all parties involved clearly understand the intent of said message. Clip....mag....cartridge....belt....drum....can probably agree, if you say any of them are empty/out; you have effectively communicated you need to reload. Also, although fairly outdated, guns do use clips, the most significant probably being the M1 Garand and popular with revolves (certain types of "speed loaders"), perhaps even the The Last Word using this date technology....

A gun with a magazine has a magazine that is part of the gun and cannot be easily removed and also cannot be fired with out manipulation of the gun. Examples. Clip. Beretta 9mm storm has a clip. A SKS has a magazine. Another definition of magazine is any place you store munitions.

Why does all my purple ammo fit my machine gun and rocket launchers? Why does my green ammo fit my fusion rifle which takes a battery and my shotgun that appears to take shells or slugs? Why can I load my auto, scout and pulse rifles with the same ammo as my hand cannon? And just what the heck kind of ammo does a hive weapon take and why can it evolve? Do any of these weapons really use magazines? Finally, in 700 years after the collapse, will the words magazine and clip still be relevant or will language change?

It really doesn't matter if it's called a mag or a clip, because at one point (WW2) people [i]were[/i] asking if someone had an extra clip. That's like when someone who's super into soccer (excuse me, [i]football[/i]) and they get upset at me because I say "jersey" instead of "kit", or "field" instead of "pitch", or "flop" instead of "dive." Does it really matter? Maybe in the service, but not in a game, and especially not on a game forum. Just saying, live and let die. It's just a word.

I agree. A good way to get traction with this topic in a forum like this is to start calling a game controller a "remote." When they correct you, slap 'em with a link to this thread.
