DLC has cured my addiction!

Prior to The Dark Below, I was totally addicted to Destiny and couldn't wait to play when I got free time from wife and kids. After the TDB release, I find myself playing less and less. Not sure of the reason exactly. Anyone else feel the same? I still love the game, but I'm slowly losing interest.

  • Its the opposite for me. Prior to the dlc I found myself extremely bored with the game as my main character had all raid gear and max level. Now that the dlc has come out it has got me grinding like never before. Not sure how I feel about my new found interest.

Yep. Crappy drop rates and only 2 months or a week with all the gear i spent a lot of time getting. Made it to the templar/bridge portion of crota and hung it up there. A templar, really like we had that in VoG. Id rather have a 20 minute fight of waves of enemies. New guns suck. Theres no good handcannons compared to the old ones. But hey, i can spend a ton of time and resources releveling up the gear that I already leveled up. I still havent wrapped my head around that bonehead idea. I can buy from Xur, cheaper, they can drop again, cheaper or I can hope xur has the upgrade and do the most expensive thing in the game, which Ive already done once.

  • I didn't get as far as some people, but, thinking of having to relevel stuff I already have does my head in. It's been broken word after broken word with Bungie. I've been a long time fan, oni being my first, and I don't like where this game is going. I may come back to it after the next DLC pack, but I've got Dragon Age Inqusition to play.

  • Amen to that. It's becoming a chore to play since last Tuesday's DLC. I knew something was amiss when Xur brought another Truth right after the DLC. I called GameStop to see what I could get for a trade in on Xbox One & they said $14.00. When I asked why so cheap I was told they have so many used copies that that's the best they could do. I really loved Destiny at first but forcing PVP down people's throat to buy faction gear or complete bounties is ridiculous.

  • I'm playing destiny just as much but considering I'm already playing at potentially hitting 32... Maxing out the armor I picked up last night puts me at 3 light away. So I guess I'm surprised at the small level cap increase and how quickly gear is being showered on us. Not sure how consistently I'll play it. VOG is pointless except for shards and energy which is tragic because I like that raid. Except it's no longer a challenge, there should have been a scaled up option at level 30 to give level 31 armor at least if not higher. Playing VOG on hard should be equivalent to Crota's end on normal. Those two and iron banner should be the only ways to reach 32+. Nightfall should have its own exclusive pool of 4 strikes based on each enemy type that you only play during nightfall and that should be another option. Gloves and shoulders should be separated as different gear. Class items should also have benefits and be leveled up. If truth be told only a couple of 32+ pieces should be available on each game type , so people would have to spread their time around, that would help from keeping it stale. But yeah man I'm happy for this new content now but looking ahead I don't see myself being entertained until mid January when hard mode comes out just to play a harder version of what I'm already doing for maybe a single level increase to 33... Just my two cents. Maybe I'm burning out from playing too much haha.

  • I am right with you. The grind made a little bit of sense but the changes introduced with the expansion have caused a loss of interest. I also regret buying the season pass.

    • I stopped playing since learning the strike would be the DLC strike and haven't touched it since. I know how you feel.

I like the game's core, but questionable design decisions have made me increasingly view playing it as work and not 'fun'. I actually wanted to raid VoG *more* because it was fun to do, but there's no point now, its all grinding for faction with vendors, grinding for shards, grinding for replacement gear.

    • Yup same here bud kinda regret buying the season pass now. I love the game play don't get me wrong I've prolly played 6+ hours a day since launch lol. But ya kinda getting sick of the rng like 90% of my exotics come from xur lol. Every1 in my raid team has at least 2 pcs of gear I have 0. Plus doing the same bounties/dailies/strikes everyday for 3 months it gets kinda boring...it feels like work.

    • Also it was to soon for gear reset!! All those hours atheon consumed, the wipes n frustration. When I finally hit 30 and got half the weapons I wanted (took a while thx to rng) I enjoyed it for around a month and now we gotta do it all over again?!... Yaaa not me..

    • Yup. It was way too early in the game's life for a gear reset. They lost me.

      • Destiny launched around a dry spell for next gen games and promised more then it delivered. I enjoy messing around with friends sometimes and I have enjoyed a hell of a lot of hours in it but it is not doing enough or the right things to keep most people in it longer then a day or two a week.

      • Yep exaaaactly the same for me bro!..before dlc I maintained 3 characters every single day did all bounties on all 3 weeklys on all 3. After the dlc with all the new stuff, weapon reseta, and new currency it's almost like it is overwhelming. I was playing from 9 o'clock (after the ol lady and kid went to bed) until atleast midnight as late as 3 o'clock in the morning every single night from release! Being tired as hell at work everyday. But now there is absolutely no way in hell I could maintain all 3 characters. And like you said it's like I lost the motivation to even try! I decided I will just focus on 1 character up to level 32 and then go to my next character! I know alot of it is being overwhelmed but I think also after knowing how hard I worked and how many hours I put into getting all 3 characters to level 30 and then seeing how they rolled out this dlc and how the new light level worked made all of those endless hours COMPLETELY pointless, almost like a slap in the face! ..so pretty much why would I work as hard as I did the first time around when I know damn well as soon as the next expansion comes I will be able to buy my way to the next level. So there really is no reason to overplay the game like we did from release up to the release of the dlc! So yes bro, I am in the same exact shoes as you and feel the same exact way you do!

        • I was addicted. Played as much as I could, followed all the latest info, talked about it more than needed. Then starting a few days ago I would power up my console, load the game, then sit there and think about how I'm going to do the exact same thing I did the day before and the weeks before that. And then realized Ill be doing the exact same thing tomorrow. So I did a match or two and shut it off. I play maybe 45 minutes and Im bored. The only thing I find interesting anymore are the Raids.

        • Its because they basically reset everyone. Not literally but all the work and time we put in before the is worthless and we have to do it again to get everything leveled up high again. Then we gotta do it again when the house of wolves cones out. Too much grinding, not enough of a rewarding feeling :(

        • Agreed, I've got over 500 hours in pre dlc. Now if I don't get time to play it deosn't bother me in the least. They could have had something here but they turned it into a turd sandwich! Oh and I hope you put a billion dollars into destiny two bungie, cause I'm not playing that one at all!

        • Its gear grind burnout, destiny isnt paced very well in that respect. And without story or content to keep you engaged, the game starts to feel like a job, ur just doing tasks for no reason in the same surrounding. More story (reasons), content to explore, makes the gear grind bearable. Also level cap and gear reset came too quickly. People stared at their gear they finally worked so hard to upgrade, just to have a new cap and no time to enjoy the spoils of wrecking shop with it.

          • Slowly but surely, yes. I find myself playing less and less with the additional characters. I'm mostly just working on my main from this point forward. I have three different characters but I'm thinking about just switching to a Hunter full time. I don't feel like grinding all my gear over and over again after every expansion, it's brutal.

          • Me too... I think for me it comes from working really hard to get to level 30. I wasn't there yet but I had a plan. I was a 29 not good enough for the hard raid but I was only a chest piece away from getting to 30 just the same... Now, all my exotics are junk until xur comes. I got to 30 yesterday by buying some boots from the tower. I don't think I'll ever be good enough to do a level 30 raid (I usually have to be 2 levels higher to be good) and the vog is useless now... Seriously there is nothing for me to do.

          • Yup once Christmas comes around il probably quit playing destiny all together and come back in a year and buy light 45 gear from the vendors and grind for 3 weeks and be back on top again
