I feel you on some aspects, but the way these games play is about the grind. However, if you are patient you can do your bounties, and a some other activities to get your marks and buy the new gear, which can take you to level 31. Only missions that are locked are the new missions, so there are still heroics and Nightfalls in the future you will be able to do, until you reach a point where you decide if you want to get the expansion or not. Any large social game always does things like this, you need to expansions to essentially unlock the full game, when the game evolves it's inevitable. Hope you keep enjoying Destiny though, and don't listen to the haters, the game is a blast with a group, and the raids are fun and challenging.

yes i feel the same way i have to restart all my good guns back to (repeat) i understand that all you wanna do is extend the game play when you did all you can to increase this game this is for bungie but you better not allow this bull shit to continue i was a full 30 with so many exotics and now i have to upgrade them again with the same skill tree with the same skills i will still [lay your game for the fact that i got the add ons with your game TOP WITH THE FRANCHISE you had a great game but its not enough to be many you dlc is so small lol shit look at goldeneye or even halo this is a new age give us shit we can do new each time or at least a couple times but all the time..... with your new expansion im am satisfied but not enthralled lol <word meme lol> you need to step up or back down

The new materials and upgrade systems are flawed at the core due to the fact that dedicated players are punished more than anyone. Kinda have to question the forced grinding every player has to endure. I mean, you can't even grind the new materials! You get a set amount a week and that's it. Absolutely nuts to do this to players, no if, ands, or buts.
