Beyond mad with exotic upgrades from Xur
Seriously though. For the first time I can say I am ready to throw this game away. Over 7,000 glimmer to upgrade equipment that I had already spent countless hours upgrading, just to lose all my glimmer to start all over again, and hardly be able to upgrade any of the exotics I have because the glimmer to do so is so high (was only able to do three), plus now there is no glimmer for me to use to get the upgrades. Also, now I have no glimmer to upgrade gear I just bought and/or won from the nightfall and raid.
I have absolutely LOVED this game, but after this I really can't describe how mad I am. If you had an exotic weapon that was already fully upgraded, you shouldn't have to start over, and shouldn't have to spend 7,000 freaking glimmer considering that you do have to start over.
Also all the legendaries that I have spent my time collecting and upgrading are now completely useless. I can't believe I spent $40 on this expansion pass to make everything I have completely USELESS.
How I feel right now, I'm ready to just trade this game in back to gamestop and not bother wasting anymore of my time with it. You all should have thought this through better.

3 RepliesAlso, I'm just sayin. I can farm about 7 k glimmer in about 20 minutes. If you're really complaining about 7k, you just needa stop playing. And materials aren't that hard to come by. Do the weeklies and the Dailys do both vault and Crota. And -blam!- you win.

So they took the teeny tiny content and stretched it out by adding these pointless grind walls and countless currencies. The bottom line is Bungie doesn't give a shit what you think. This is the game they're making and it's infuriating but there will never be any recourse. If they have your money the best you can do is send a message by not playing or request a refund. Also -blam!- anybody defending these positively shitty gameplay changes and mechanics. They're just in denial about how hard they're getting -blam!-ed and how addicted to this Pavlovian game they are.

You need the extra damage now but xur only offers a limited and random offering of what you actually get to upgrade! That makes it very difficult. If you have an exotic and it's not the 2.0 version, then it's too weak to use and pointless to level up attack now until xur comes through with your upgrade.

In 1 week and limited play I have rebuilt my glimmer again. It isn't that bad, the upgrade again is the more annoying aspect, but somewhat tolerated. Loss of my legendaries is more annoying.

I see your frustration but glimmer is easier to find than STDs on the corner whore. That was a little over the top i know but i was able to upgrade 5 exotics last weekend and i know this is my opinion but i love being able to take my favorite exotics into the tier 2 level! And hell this game is about grinding with great shooter mechanics and an ever evolving (right now very vague) story. I mean no offense just my opinion 😆

Your not "starting all over again". Its a more powerful weapon now not the same one you just had. Take one second and just think about it. Bungie did mess up pretty badly with the implementation of the new gear. The level 33 light gear should of been added to the old stock and had a higher rank of lvl 10 and only starting getting commendations at level 10. TDB raid should of started at 28 normal and 32 hard the same model as VoG (26 and 30) so the VoG gear would of kept up with the new raid till they got new raid armor. Old gear is always going to become outdated with new levels get used to it.

I picked 3 weapons an 3 armies to upgrade. Everything else is sharded. At 500,000 exp,countless materials, and time spent upgrading exotics it's better to just chose a few you like.

It's basically a big middle finger to all the work people have already put into the game. Let's look at the big picture. For ONE WEAPON, you need to spend 7 strange coins for a shard, then spend about 7700 glimmer for the exchange. By the way, all that ascendant energy you spent hours collecting and upgrading your exotics to max 300 damage? Yea, go ahead and chalk that up as a loss, thanks for playing Destiny all those hours to upgrade your exotics! THEN, you spend countless more thousands upon thousands worth of glimmer re-upgrading the weapon that you've ALREADY UPGRADED. Not to mention countless more materials (spin metal, helium, etc) that you don't get refunded for and have to spend all over again. Why would they force players to double-spend so much cash, materials, and time for the same weapon? It makes no sense. For the second expansion, what are the plans? Reset everyone's weapons and armor again and change them yet again? Let's just keep -blam!-ing people over, that sounds like a good business plan to keep players interested.

4 RepliesSo basically you want to upgrade ALL your weapons at once for next to nothing? Try doing one or two at a time. Glimmer ain't that hard to come by, you just want EVERYTHING NOW! what for? In the real world we gotta replace and replenish all our possessions and consumables weekly and how is it all paid for? By working. My car, my house, my clothes, my food, my kids'clothes, toys, food, not to mention bills. All my electrical stuff will need updating in time, I wasn't under the illusion that once I bought something, it lasted for the rest of my life! Last time I checked my legendary pre dlc weapons still fired bullets and hurt enemies, they're not USELESS as all the whiners are crying and complaining about. If you don't like the game, trade it, it's that simple. Then I suggest you delete the destiny app from your phone and FFUUCCKK OFF! If my kids behaved anything like the majority of the whining pricks on here I'd be seriously embarrassed about the shit job I'd done of bringing them up. Be thankful you have the luxury of complaining about a video game that doesn't suit your childish expectations. Millions of kids don't even have toys let alone a game console. Merry Christmas!

8 RepliesLet's talk about what other MMOs do... When an expansion drops, everything from the previous content is instantly worthless. I've never before seen a game that provides a way for you to keep gear relevant into a new expansion. I'll happily pay 2 shards (good thing I hoarded all those junk nightfall rewards) and some glimmer to keep my Ice Breaker.

There are too many new and old exotics to have to upgrade, it takes days to upgrade ONE exotic armor piece or weapon even with 5k XP bounties up the yin-yang, now add to the fact it takes around 7.4-7.6k to upgrade one damn exotic from Xur... And don't you dare say it's apart of progress, it's MMO progression or any bulls**t to throw excuses to defend this method. If Bungie simply reset the last few damage/armor bubbles, then I wouldn't mind. However completely resetting EVERY upgrade bubble is a load of bulls**t... That's not progress, that's hindrance, and creating a false sense of extended gameplay.

I agree. it cost too much to just raise the base damage but it remove the upgrades that were already there?! At this moment, we also cant sell materials like spinmetal to raise some cash. Bungie, why not expand the upgrade tree? and also what about purple items, they cant be upgraded further and Xur isnt going to upgrade them so all our purple items became crap compared to the new purple items. I bought the expansion pass too but should I even play since in 3 months the House of wolves's purple items will be better than the gold items now? Dear bungie, games like this needs character progression, its about setting new goals and achieving new heights. the goals are the same since it resets the upgrade tree instead of offering new and better upgrades in addition to what we have. it used to be awesome if u get a purple or gold item but now it is less so because instead of playing the game and improving my character i just have to save up my vanguard and crucible marks (capped at 200) then wait for House of wolves to drop and buy gear that is already better then what we can get now at full upgrade.

3 RepliesI have 5 exotics that I upgraded this weekend or got in the nightfall. 2 of them are already on the final upgrade damage perks there are lots of bounties to do everyday and I would think by the end of next week all 5 of mine will be maxed out at 331.

If you have 3 characters just switch the guns you want to upgrade through each character and then Do the bounties to upgrade that that gun, then switch it to the next character and do the same thing it's very easy

It was really simple. Add 3 attack nodes and an exotic Shard and 3k glimmer or something to upgrade each one. Not release a patch and have me spend over a 130 coins upgrading exotics just to have them tell me 2 days later I done goofed. Just saying, system would have worked better this way, or if they just scrapped all the previous exotics and stuff. Either or not this inbetween is bullshit. I'm upgrading suros myth ice patience and ghorn. Done till next dlc cuz hours=worthless till then.
